India's population is about 140 crore.

And the administration claims 40 crore people are likely to visit the Mahakumbh.

That's like more than a fourth of India visiting a just 45 days or close to 90 lakh people turning up at the Mahakumbh on an average every day.

Over 13,000 trains and 250 flights will connect Prayagraj to the rest of the country over the mela period.

It will also be possible to make day trips to Varanasi and Ayodhya. And then there will be the river cruise to watch the Ganga aarti.

More than 100 parking lots that can accommodate 5 lakh cars have come up.

Some 100 guides who are able to communicate in multiple languages will be available across all the 25 sectors of the new district.

There's a central hospital with 100 beds, two sub-centre hospitals with 20 beds each and 25 first-aid centres. On standby will be 125 ambulances.

To put this in context, a 50,000-strong police presence is twice the size of the police force of a state like Uttarakhand.

The mela area will have 56 police stations, 3 police lines.

Harvard, Stanford, London School of Economics, Kyoto University, AIIMS, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras and JNU are some premiere institutes that are going to send professors, research scholars and students to stay in Prayagraj.

What attracts different researchers is how the gargantuan management of the Mela works without any major disruptive incident, accident or crime.
