All of us at Drop Site News are deeply saddened by the loss of Ahlam Al Nafed, a nurse who spent the last 15 months fearlessly documenting the horrors in northern Gaza. Ahlam was a trusted source, providing detailed reporting, video, and information to Drop Site News and others.

For the past 100 days, Ahlam chronicled the genocide in northern Gaza, capturing evidence of Israeli war crimes from the besieged Indonesian Hospital. Through her words and images, she ensured that atrocities which might have been silenced were brought to light, enabling the world to see the brutal reality unfolding there.

Today, Ahlam was killed by Israeli forces as she walked to Al Shifa Hospital.

Just last week, Ahlam had lost her father, who died of a chronic medical condition after being unable to access treatment due to Israel’s ongoing blockade. She is survived by her sister Reem, a fellow nurse at the Indonesian Hospital. To Reem, and to all who loved Ahlam, we extend our deepest condolences.

Ahlam’s work documenting the attacks on the Indonesian Hospital was irreplaceable. She was one of the last remaining voices in northern Gaza—a voice that the world desperately needed. Without her, the full extent of Israel’s actions might never have been known.Image
We’re sharing below some of the crucial reports Ahlam documented from the Indonesian Hospital:

BREAKING: A new report by the Palestinian Prisoners Society and the Palestinian Prison Club highlights systematic torture and abuse faced by Gaza detainees in Israeli prisons. The testimonies, gathered between January 6-8, 2025, from 23 detainees across Negev Prison and Nafha Military Camp, provide shocking details of medical neglect, severe beatings, sexual assault, and inhumane detention conditions.

Some of the key findings include:

▪️ Gaza detainees not being held and tortured across multiple Israeli camps, including Negev, Nafha, Sdeh Taiman, Ofer, and Anata.
▪️ One detainee, aged 45, described being severely beaten, resulting in “fractures and burns from hot water.”
▪️ Soldiers “urinated on prisoners” and “threw sewage water at them,” according to detainee testimonies.
▪️ Another detainee, aged 21, spoke about the “spread of scabies” and worsening medical conditions due to neglect.
▪️ Prisoners are enduring “brutal physical abuse,” including prolonged beatings and forced kneeling while blindfolded.
▪️ At Nafha Military Camp, a prisoner suffering from cancer was denied “urgent treatment.”
▪️ The Red Cross continues to be denied access to the detainees, worsening their safety and well-being.

Ramallah - The Palestinian Prisoners Society and the Palestinian Prison Club revealed new testimonies from Gaza detainees following visits to 23 detainees in Negev Prison and Naftali Camp during the period from January 6, 2025 to January 8, 2025. The testimonies included shocking details about the systematic torture the detainees were subjected to, particularly during the early stages of their arrest and interrogation. Today, 464 days after the genocide war and over a year since the majority of those visited were arrested, the crimes of torture, abuse, starvation, medical crimes, brutal beatings, and repression still hang over the detainees’ accounts, along with harsh detention conditions and the continuing spread of scabies among them.

The society and the club followed up with a new report added to a series of reports that exposed the systematic crimes perpetrated by the occupation forces against Gaza detainees. It reaffirms that the Sdeh Teiman camp, which was the main location for torture operations, is no longer the only camp where torture and atrocities were carried out, including sexual assaults. The testimonies of detainees from most central prisons and camps reflected the same level of methodical brutality, with specific mention of Negev Prison and Ofer Prison and Camp.

Recently, extremist Minister Ben Gvir appeared in a video from Rakefet Prison, which is located under the cells of Nitzan Prison in Ramla. This prison was reopened after the war to hold detainees from Gaza. It is one of several camps created by the occupation after the war to hold Gaza detainees, including Ofer Camp, Naftali Camp, Anatot Camp, and Sdeh Teiman Camp, with the camps known only to specialized institutions. Gaza detainees were distributed among all central prisons and held in many camps created by the army in the Gaza envelope area.

The society and the club present part of the testimonies they obtained from detainees in Negev Prison, in addition to statements from detainees held at Naftali Camp. ⬇️
“Like the torment of the afterlife”
“They burned me with hot water”

Detainee (K. N), aged 45, who was arrested in December 2023, said: “Since my arrest, I was subjected to severe beatings, causing fractures in my body, in an attempt to extract confessions from me. I remained in a camp in the Gaza envelope for 58 days, which was like the torment of the afterlife—being shackled and beaten constantly, humiliated and insulted. When I was transferred to Negev Prison, they burned me with hot water by splashing me with boiling water from an electric kettle. The burn marks are still visible on my body. Today I live in tents, and the tents are torn. We suffer from extreme cold, and today we are dying from the cold and hunger.”

1/ On January 5, 2025, a major winter storm hit Richmond, Virginia. By 10 a.m. on January 6, residents reported low water pressure—some had trickling water, while others had none. By afternoon, the entire city faced a major crisis with widespread water outages. Despite the city’s CodeRED emergency notification system, over 200,000 residents under a ‘boil water’ advisory were left uninformed for hours. “We found out through Reddit and Twitter,” a Richmond resident told Drop Site News.

Details on the story below 👇🏼

2/ The power outage caused by the storm led to failures in both primary and backup systems at the water treatment facility, resulting in a loss of water pressure throughout the city. The plant itself was also flooded. Video: McKenzie Hurst (Facebook) authenticated by @SamuelParkerRTD ⬇️
3/ Drop Site spoke with a grocery worker who described the chaos: “Lines at the stores were out the door. We weren’t notified about the issue until 7 hours after it was discovered. Retailers and businesses were blindsided—already short-staffed from the snowstorm.”

Israel’s public broad Kan 11 has leaked a document it claims was presented to Israel’s security cabinet, outlining Israeli principles for the hostage deal. It details:

➤ Objective is to release all Israeli hostages (civilians & soldiers, alive or dead) in Gaza in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The deal aims to lead to a ceasefire, Israeli withdrawal, and Gaza’s rehabilitation.

➤ Hostage Release Plan:
- Day 1: 3 Israeli women released.
- Day 7: 4 more hostages, then 3 released weekly.
- Hamas must submit a list of hostages by Day 7. Israel now demands this list before the deal begins.

➤ Israeli Withdrawal: Pullback from Gaza’s Nitzarim axis, dismantling military positions, and introducing mechanisms to block armed movements.

➤ Humanitarian Aid: Starting on Day 1, 600 trucks daily of food, fuel, and supplies would be allowed into Gaza.

➤ Gaza Reconstruction: Israel would take immediate steps to clear rubble, rebuild infrastructure, and provide at least 60,000 caravans and 200,000 tents for displaced residents.

➤ Additional Demands:
- Israel initially required the expulsion of at least 50 militants to locations outside Gaza or elsewhere within Gaza. This number has since increased.
- To secure the release of more hostages each week, Israel is considering easing its veto on certain Palestinian prisoners.

The document, dated May, reportedly aligns closely with the ongoing Qatar negotiations.

🧵 West Bank Burning: A Recap of Today’s Events

1/ Earlier this morning, Israel’s extremist Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who also oversees civilian affairs in the West Bank, incited Israeli settlers to attack and destroy Palestinian towns and cities. On X, he wrote: “Pondok, Nablus, and Jenin need to look like Jabalia [inn northern Gaza] so Kfar Saba [in Israel] doesn’t become a Gaza village, God forbid.”

2/ Later in the evening, Israeli settlers carried out violent attacks on Palestinian communities in the West Bank, burning homes and vehicles, and targeting residents in the villages of Hajjah and Funduq.
3/ The attacks on Palestinian residential areas seem to be in retaliation for two Palestinian gunmen opening fire near an illegal Israeli settlement in Al Funduq in the occupied West Bank. The shooting killing three Israelis and injured eight.

THREAD 🧵

Israel’s “Guantanamo Bay,” the Sde Teiman detention camp, now operates at reduced capacity following international outrage over shocking footage of the gang rape of a detainee by Israeli prison guards in July 2024, along with extensive evidence of widespread torture and sexual abuse.

New reporting from Physicians for Human Rights Israel (PHRI) reveals that severe human rights violations remain rampant across Israeli detention facilities and prisons, which are currently holding at least 6,000 Palestinians that Israel admits to have detained from Gaza since October 7, 2023.

Since May 2024, Ofer Military Prison in the Occupied West Bank has been increasingly used to detain Israeli military’s captives from Gaza. Other facilities now in use include Anatot military camp (also in the West Bank), Naftali and Amiad military camps (northern Israel), and Ktzi’ot Prison (southern Israel).

Lawyers and detainees say conditions directly threaten the survival of those held in the facilities, with at least 54 Palestinians having died in Israeli prisons and camps since October 7, 2023.Image
Ofer Military Prison recently made headlines when detained orthopedic surgeon Adnan Al Bursh died with significant evidence of torture. Detainees there describe inhumane conditions involving:

➤ Constant physical restraint; hours-long stress positions.
➤ Concrete floors & metal beds with thin, torn mattresses.
➤ No lighting; toilets located in the center of cells.
➤ Drinking water sourced from toilet taps.
➤ Clothes going unchanged for weeks.
➤ Mattresses and blankets confiscated in the morning, leaving detainees on cold concrete, returned only at night.
➤ Meals lacking basic nutrition: a few slices of bread with small box of cheese, jam, or spread, and occasionally a single vegetable.
