The same filter and blower used for the Dental Mask can be connected to a hose and hood to give toddlers too small for other mask options some protection in environments with poor air quality, use 7750+ instead of 7740+ if you want minor reduction of gases and odors also
Build step 1, remove the gray connectors off both ends of the hose, they are just press fit with 2 plastic retention tabs, they do take a lot of force to pop out but you don’t need to worry about damaging the gray plastic that will be discarded
Build step 2 and 3, remove the 3M connector from the hood which is also a simple press fit connector, much easier to remove by hand, and then put one end of the hose through the hole, you can reuse the 3M ring for security, consider adding a bit of tape on the black connector
Step 4, cut the foam to remove the plastic ring on the end not inside the hood
Because this is an inexpensive DIY project, it is not a substitute for any respirator or NIOSH certified PAPR, you can typically buy new PAPRs on USA eBay for under $200, do not use this for risk compensation, it’s to fill the gaps when nothing else is possible
Decibel measurements 12 inches from the blower unit-
AirBoss 64dB
Honeywell PA700 Low Fan 58dB
Honeywell PA700 High Fan 67dB
DIY 60dB
