Buck Showalter is a highly respected veteran manager. You’d think in times like this he’d make things better — instead of actively making things worse.
Every manager makes bad moves sometimes. I’ve just never understood this Showalter aura where he’s seemingly insulated from criticism. The Mets are in danger of going sideways. Why does the manager get a pass?
I suppose I’d understand it more if he were say, Bruce Bochy, who has pennants and championships. Showalter has neither. Yet, he’s seemingly curated this image of an untouchable baseball genius or something. I just don’t get it.
