Here's my take on the Silfverberg comments on Cronin:
I'm not disregarding them, obviously not with Jakob's standing, but like other comments, it was last year. Cronin and Verbeek addressed after the season that Cronin needed to step back on that end of the approach... (1/6)
Cronin on Ducks Stream Behind the Bench Ep. 7 - 6:55: "As you're losing, and you're not getting the response you expect, then emotions get involved, and then I could get maybe way too vocal than I should have been. And Pat (Verbeek) was good. He'd come in and say..." (2/6)
Cronin: "...hey listen, you've got to step back. We're not good enough right now to hit the expectations that you're demanding. I don't want you to change the expectation, but now you've got to change your approach and how you're going to get the most out of these players." (3/6)
This season, we haven't seen or heard anything to those levels. If it were something coming out of this current locker room, we would surely all report it. That's our jobs, and it would run against what Cronin and Verbeek had addressed... (4/6)
Silfvy's comments have been noted. They're added to the tally of stories on last season (Lybushkin, the Spittin' Chiclets comments) or old anecdotes (the Yandle he said-he said).
Additionally, if the coach hadn't gotten on the team down 5-0, there would also be criticism...(5/6)
Again, Cronin and Verbeek addressed this in the offseason. Cronin is obviously a hard-nosed guy. That approach will grate on some guys, but he's been told to adjust.
I understand tensions are high with recent results, but this isn't a "final straw." It is noted, though. (6/6)
