A bunch of pranksters have skinned the republican party and are wearing it as a hat.

And I am in serious danger of running out of popcorn.

They understand something that actual republican politicians never did.

Ridicule is the best weapon against the ridiculous.

Jokes move the Overton window, you see.

Because to move the Overton window, you have to say something outside its current location. That's literally what jokes are for.

The republicans didn't know how to move the Overton window, because they didn't have any interest in figuring that out.

The old GOP has been the controlled opposition for decades. Not that they were literally taking orders, of course. The old GOP simply figured out that they can make more money by losing.

It since before most of you were born, it's gone like this. The democrats targeted a new piece of civilization to tear down and loot, the republicans collected money and voted from everyone who saw where this would lead, then made just enough of a token effort to appear as if they had fought and lost.

And this effort needed for this was less and less, as time wore on and they were the only game in town.

So when people started noticing that republicans not only weren't winning, but weren't trying very hard to win, not much changed.

The republicans just shrugged and said to themselves "What are they going to do, start their own political party?" as if this were some sort of knee-slapper.

They probably thought it was, until Donald Trump said "Actually, I don't think I will. I'll just take yours."

And he did.

Republicans don't exist anymore. Not really. We all just inherited the name, and there's no real reason to change it.

It's on all the stationary.

But the people are different, the methods are different, and the goals are different.

Republicanism was about making money by pretending to resist the reduction of nationality culture to globally homogenized serfdom.

It was carried out by people whose job was "hold political office".

What we voted for this time is about feeling good about who are again, and unapologetically standing up for our own interests.

And it's carried out by people who had other shit to do, and only got involved in politics because neoMarxist bullshit was getting in the way of launching rockets and whatnot.

Because politics goes in cycles.

Everything important, like infrastructure, and technology, and real estate, and art, happens outside politics.

That means that mid-IQ theater kid grifters slowly accumulate political power, because the rest of humanity is busy doing real shit.

Except eventually, the politics get the way of doing real shit, and people with better things to do have to stop what they're doing, and get involved, and point out just how ridiculous the theater kids have gotten.

By trolling and mocking them.

Then they huff, and shake their jowls, and make starchy noises about "dividing us" and "spreading hate" and "our sacred democracy" and other hypocritical shit that only people with serious theatrical training can say with a straight face.

Well, so long as we're all getting into politics just because it's getting in the way of launching rockets, I'd like to suggest we design a very special rocket for these characters.

Just a little idea I had.

I call it "Golgafrinchan Ark Fleet Ship B".

How is this man being selected as the CEO of OpenAI, however briefly, when he is still groping in the dark, struggling to understand even the most basic of concepts behind his own civilization?

Has it never occurred to him to wonder why hunter-gatherer societies don't have a concept of personal land ownership, but agricultural societies do?

All of the human technology stack is based upon investment. Not merely in the modern, financial, sense, but the investment of effort.

If I am a protohuman, using a stone as a pounding tool, I do not care if you take my stone. I will simply pick up another stone. But if I chip my stone into a spearhead, then I will not let you take my spearhead, because that would take away the effort I have invested.

From the moment humans gained the ability to build and farm, land became something they could invest effort in.

And land ownership became necessary so they would do that.

All of the bullshit ya'll think is so important: governments, laws, philosophical principles about rights, etc... these are all just tools, possible means of protecting investment.

It doesn't matter what set of tools you use, so long as they work and investments are protected. If a man can be certain his investments will not be taken away from him by parasites, thieves, and robbers, he will invest. If he is certain that they will, he will not invest.

And without that investment, you have nothing. You are literally a wild animal, living as wild animals do.

If you don't want that, you need the concept of property. It doesn't matter where you say it "comes from", whether that be god(s), "natural" rights, abstract philosophical concepts, whatever. And it doesn't matter how you enforce it, whether it be laws, police, and courts, armed property owners, a high-society where people are conditioned not to steal, or all of the above.

What matters is that somehow, some way, people get to keep and benefit from what they invest in.

Because the alternative is universally unacceptable to us: reversion to a non-technological state of existence.
It does not matter what justifications are used for property rights. We can just make them up. In fact, that's exactly what we did.

The point is that we need to.
