The National Sex Education Standards for K-12, were developed by the Future of Sex Education, a collaboration of Advocates for Youth @AdvocatesTweets , Answer @sexedhonestly , Planned Parenthood Federation of America @PPFA , and SIECUS: Sex Ed for Social Change @SIECUS .
As of June 2024, California, Oregon, and Washington require comprehensive sex education in all schools. Colorado and Illinois require comprehensive sex education if it is taught in schools.

SIECUS is also working to get H.R.3583 - Real Education and Access for Healthy Youth Act (REAHYA) of 2023 passed which would provide grants for comprehensive sex education to public or private entities.
