most authors expand their reach by organic spread linksharing spread like this, and if my first encounter with your content is "pay more to read!!" i'm really not going to do it
imo the default minimum subscription price on sbstck is just too high :( i follow 30+ authors, subscribe to a few of them, but really don't want to swing $5-$7 for each. 99c minimum would be more doable
other idea: bundled subscriptions. get access to 5-10 authors' paywall for a single price, authors can decide to split money equally or based on engagement. we're reinventing magazines from first principles
fwiw, types of writers who are probably not hobbling themselves:
- people with large followings on other, free social media platforms (aka very large funnels)
- people with external credentials
- people who don't care about maximizing their audience
