Everything we were warning about for years, on Russia and on the rise of Russia-allied virulent fascism in the West, was ignored.
So here’s one more tidbit. The “intellectual guru” of Thiel, Vance and Musk, Curtis Yarvin, called in 2022 for Russia to conquer all of Europe.
Yarvin, an intellectual charlatan and a virulent fascist with a cult following in the Silicon Valley brolligarchy, has also called for the destruction of democracy and for the mass murder of “zero-value individuals,” which he wants
turned into “biodiesel.”
In early 2022, this repulsive creature was very excited by the imminent full Russian invasion of Ukraine. Yarvin wrote that Ukraine is an artificial country (a “joke drafted by the State Department”) that is in dire need of being sorted out by Putin. Image
Yarvin then mocked those who cared about the defence of Ukraine and issued one of the first “so why don’t you go and fight in the trenches then” taunts. Image
To understand the nature of this idol of the fascists executing a coup this moment, however, the following is critical. Yarvin goes on to give a Putin-worthy “historical account” of Ukraine as an inalienable part of Russia and the Ukrainian language as some vulgar local dialect. Image
But Yarvin didn’t even stop there. He advocated the abandonment of all of Europe to Russia as the only permanent “cure” (destruction) of the “scourge of liberalism.” Now this is something that a substantial part of the MAGA cult would support.
Yarvin’s fascist blathering has the exact same bitterness, sarcasm, vulgarity and inhumane contempt that the ghostwriters of the war criminal Medvedev’s posts on social media display.

There are moments of “rupture” in history, following which nothing is the same as before. The “graduation” of Putin’s Russia into a Nazified entity committed to permanent violence is one. This rupture was not only not unexpected but it was something which we aided and abetted. ⬇️
For 20+ years, we enabled the aggressor. We closed our eyes to Putin’s terror against Russians in the fall of 1999. We closed our eyes to his horrifically brutal and surely genocidal assault on Chechnya. To the murders of journalists and opposition leaders in Russia and Europe.
We closed our eyes to the open and frank merger of the massive mafia and the state under the leadership of the vanguard cadres of Putin’s Chekists. To the destruction of the judiciary. To the takeover of the media. To the theft of hundreds of billions. Instead, we made “deals.”

It is stunning that much of the world has not grasped Putin’s profound, historically disastrous incompetence. That so many still consider him a ruthless but highly competent operator is one of the greatest frauds in history.
Here are only 12 of Putin’s catastrophic fuckups.
1. Kursk disaster — pathetically inept, indifferent and absent.
Could barely face the furious parents of the sailors. Then, as a truly brave leader, attacked the TV station that had aired their discontent.
2. The Chechnya war — proclaimed as a victory, it was instead a dirty deal whereby one brutal Chechen clan, that of the Kadyrovs, was given the land and virtual independence in exchange for a formal allegiance of loyalty. What win?

To fight the scourge of Trumpism, we must know what it is. The conventional picture of an opportunist and a small group of extremists in a hostile takeover of a serious party is a lie. Trumpism is the coming true of Republican wishes decades in the making.
Until we see that conservatism has been profoundly hijacked, twisted and gutted from within for the past 50+ years, we won’t make any headway. This Republican Party, a now profoundly evil institution, must wither and die for the Republic to have a shot at survival.
To this day, Trump bases his daily assault on the Constitution and the country on the legal precedent set forth by an arch-member of the well-behaved establishment Republican boys’ club—Chief Justice John Roberts, a man who got his start under Reagan and George H.W. Bush.

Hear me out.
Stop believing that Trump has in mind a deal that is conciliatory to Putin. There is no deal. There never was one. There will never be one. What Trump is methodically doing is much worse. He is trying to deliver all of Ukraine to Putin. To be precise, Ukraine and Moldova.
It is extremely important that we stop being swayed by the distractions he dangles to obscure his true goal. Putin and Trump are united in one goal: Ukraine must cease to exist. It isn’t only Trump’s fervent desire to please Putin. It’s also Trump’s own dirty little passion.
Why? It’s partly about the impeachment but only partly. It’s also for the same reason vatniks from all corners of the globe hate Ukraine, a country they have no personal fight with. Ukraine offends them deeply and existentially.

Let’s analyse 13 claims from the 1941 Congressional testimony of Nazi lover and America First-er Charles Lindbergh in opposition to the bill to send aid to Britain as it desperately fought Hitler.

Do let me know if you have seen someone more recently copying this rhetoric. ⬇️
Claim 1: We must oppose sending aid to a close democratic ally threatened by an authoritarian, antidemocratic dictatorship because doing so would… destroy U.S. democracy. Image
Claim 2: It is NOT that I want the aggressor to win, of course! It’s just that, you see, we can’t control or influence who does. We need “realism.” Image

I must point out one sentence from JD Vance’s Munich speech that shook me to my core with particular revulsion and anger: “If Russia buying digital advertising for a few hundred thousand dollars poses a danger to your democracy, your democracy wasn't very strong to begin with."
He was, of course, talking about Romania. The excellent @Daractenus has addressed much of this undeserved assault. Here I want to point out the horrendously, sadistically injurious implications of this victim-blaming logical fallacy.
The statement is absurd, ignorant and irresponsible on its face. History is full of examples of events enacted cheaply and often by a few malicious people that inflicted grievous damage on otherwise mighty structures of power.
