The craziest thing that is actually true is that a relatively small group of very literal Nazis has completely seized control of the US government
They have accomplished by building a tight-knit community in the dark corners of the internet, then establishing a lot of influence over the inner circle of MAGA, especially Musk and Vance
Musk empowered them massively by taking over Twitter and then removing almost all restrictions on them, while promoting many of their most notable figures. Musk seems extremely taken with them personally and spends a lot of time trying to impress them
Their politics are dramatically different than normal Republicans - they don’t care at all about traditional conservative values, freedom, democracy, even America. The only thing they really care about is inflicting pain on groups they hate, through a variety of pretenses
That especially includes all nonwhite people, trans people, and for an influential subset, Jews
Most of them openly hate America and its government. They talk very freely about wanting to transform the country into a South African apartheid state - or even killing all nonwhite Americans outright
They openly praise Hitler and Nazi Germany, and believe the villains won WW2. They spent a lot of time telling each other to get ready for mass violence, believing Trump, Vance, and Musk will protect them
They want to destroy anything that has a hint of liberalism, usually by killing the people involved. They believe any institution including nonwhite people, religious minorities, or LGBT people is hopelessly corrupted
I wish I was exaggerating but you see these sentiments expressed constantly in these circles. And Musk and Vance follow - and even interact with - many of their leading figures.
All the inexplicable sabotage of US institutions? It makes no sense, even to conservatives, but these people are ecstatic, because they want to burn the country. Musk’s Nazi salute? Fits perfectly, if you realize this is who he wants to impress
They are badly outnumbered by real patriotic Americans, even on the right. But most real patriotic Americans don’t realize this group exists, much less is steering policy
They need to be pulled into the daylight before they wreck the country
