To the extent that a meme can comprise a threat signal, this is a big one.

Consider what happened to Clinton in '16 or Fauci in '20: you cannot mention their names today with some people, without hearing (successful) disinformation campaigns that have taken root in their beliefs

Mention Clinton, and chances are, the person you're talking to will think Clinton is corrupt without knowing how, or too personally unpopular to get elected without saying why they know (neither are true - Clinton was never charged with a crime and she won the popular vote).

Mention Fauci, two times out of five, they'll say Fauci has done something wrong without having a good reason why, or indeed having any real alternative to what CDC and NIH did in 2020 up against a highly novel fast-spreading airborne pandemic.

Consider Fauci in particular: ~1.3 million Americans died from COVID, yes, but people forget, if you look at the PANCAP plan, or early mortality estimates before we had hospital system collapse under control… we were looking at mortality estimates in excess of three times that.

But the man responsible for saving millions of American lives - a higher “score” than most of us ever attain in one of the only games that matter - has to live under 24-7 guard because idiots, egged on by sitting elected lawmakers, fervently believe Fauci actually *created* COVID

Personal attack, to the point that audiences acquire reflexive associations with targets’ names, is a staple tactic of the right-wing, and that is happening right now with a foreign head-of-state with a consistently better approval rating than our own President up until last week

That says more than just “Ukraine is important” because, quite frankly, that is horrifically obvious.

I think it also says - depending on the context - that whoever puts together and strategizes these hate-festivals, they’ve got different priorities than perhaps we might think.
