SOCIAL SECURITY

I want this to be clearly understood

Social Security is THE greatest social safety net ever to come from our Government

It came about because, like today, Corporations and the wealthy took advantage of workers with low wages, no pensions AND GREED
Yes, we need to remove the income cap on Social Security payments, but its NOT ENOUGH to fix the problems it faces

We must DEMAND that any monies "borrowed from the SS reserves BE PAID BACK WITH INTEREST

They continue to promote the lie that SS is insolvent...
but Social Security is a self perpetuating system...as long as there are worker paying into it, it survives which leads to the REAL problem

WAGES

We no longer make a "real wage" comparable to what we made in previous decades
People worry that they wont receive a check, or that it will be a pittance but thats because we no longer contribute the way we used to BECAUSE WAGES ARE LOW

1/3 of our working class makes under 30k per year

THINK ABOUT THAT when they brag about their job numbers
If we focused on increasing wages Social Security will heal itself

That, combined with additional revenue and replacement of funds will enable the program to thive for generations...AND WE CAN INCREASE PAYOUTS FOR THOSE WHO CAN BARELY MAKE ENDS MEET like the elderly and disabled
It is OUR responsibility and part of the social contract of Social Security to provide for our workers and those in need

We should not face the alternative of people being forced onto the streets or into their families homes for support

The days of our elderly resorting to
eating cat food to survive SHOULD BE OVER
(yes, its really a thing, most prevalent in the 70s and 80s)

It is shameful that we have allowed those in elected office to manipulate, cut, rearrange and dismantle a program meant to PROTECT US and our loved ones
Something as simple as raising the minimum wage to a "living wage" will add BILLIONS to Social Security Reserves improving stability

I have more, but I digress...

The working class, our political parties and the problem we face :

A THREAD

We currently are facing attacks from the right wing regarding "replacement theory"

Its premise is that whites, males, Christians and others are being replaced in our society and in our economy...
And instead of them, jobs, privileges and rights are going to be given to women, minorities, non-Christians

The right wing likes this theory, and we need to understand why

There has been a replacement but its not the one they describe. Its the one they dont want you to know...
This is the replacement that is actually happening

Over the last 50+ years to the present, large Capitalist Corporations have decided that their solution is to replace expensive workers with alternatives

Who are the expensive workers ?

Overwhelmingly, white, male, Christians..

Thread....INFLATION

I want to discuss inflation, the problem that is in the forefront of everyones mind these days
How do we solve it, why the proposed solutions are not solutions and hurt us more, and how it was curbed in the past

Fuel prices, food prices, prices in general...
Our elected officials tell us we are suffering from inflation, but so is the rest of the world.
This is simply not true. Yes, there are some countries that have an inflation similar to ours, like Canada, but most of the world has lower inflation
Countries with lower inflation...
such as Japan and China are seeing inflation under 2% while ours is hovering between 8-10%.
Anyone telling you we cant manage it is either avoiding the subject, doesnt want to deal with it, or dont know what theyre doing...
