More than 1,200 new deaths were reported in the U.S. this week, the ninth week in a row with over a thousand deaths. New cases however continue to drop nationwide.
COVID cases in the U.S. continued to drop this week, though the New York area is seeing an uptick in cases. Deaths remain well above 1,000 for the 6th week in a row.
The weekly death toll from COVID-19 in the U.S. remained above 1,000 for the second week in a row, along with nearly 175,000 new cases, the highest since March 3. Cases however appear to be at or near a peak.
The COVID summer wave continued this week with nearly 170,000 new cases. We've now seen 10 weeks of consistent increases. Hospital admissions and deaths, which lag, are also rising.
