The series of peculiar portraits of Donald Trump are paraphrases of a painting [1] [2] by Francis Bacon (1909–1992) entitled „Study after Velázquezʼs Portrait of Pope Innocent X” from 1953,

which is in turn is a version of the „Portrait of Innocent X” painted by Diego Velázquez (1599–1660) in 1650 [2].
