🧵1/17 Trump reminded many Canadians that we still care about decency, integrity, kindness, and competence in our leaders. That’s not weakness — it’s called character. And it’s exactly what we need right now. Here’s why I can’t support @PierrePoilievre :
2/ 📉 REPORT CARD: Pierre Poilievre has never worked outside politics. ZERO real-world job experience. Elected at 24 in 2004 — Parliament Hill is the only job he’s ever had. 20 years in Ottawa, paid by taxpayers — while railing against "government elites."
3/ He plays “just like you” in hoodies & trucks — But he makes $309,700/year, lives in a taxpayer-funded 19-room mansion, has a chauffeur, and racks up over $20,000 a day in expenses. That’s not relatable. That’s elite.
4/ Poilievre quietly built a $19,177/month pension. He can retire at 55. 60% of Canadians don’t even have a workplace pension. But sure — tell us more about “hard work.”
5/ He talks about “accountability” …but billed taxpayers over $7.3 million last year in expenses. That's over $20,000 per day.
6/ During COVID, he VOTED AGAINST: ❌ CERB (support for workers) ❌ Wage subsidies ❌ Small business aid ❌ Rent support
His view? “Let the market correct itself.” Millions would’ve suffered more.
7/ 👷♀️👷♂️ On Working Canadians: He voted AGAINST:
❌ Anti-scab laws
❌ Union protections
❌ Sick leave
❌ Equal pay
❌ Minimum wage
❌ Paid leave during COVID
❌ Public sector fairness
Then called CERB recipients “lazy” — from his mansion.
8/ 🌍 On the environment? No plan.
Just: “Axe the Tax.” He called climate change a “luxury concern.” Attacks renewables. Promotes foreign-owned oil & gas. Wants to roll back Canada’s climate goals as wildfires and floods surge.
9/ 🏛️ On democracy & truth: Blames Trudeau for everything (even things provinces control). Uses disinfo on crime, housing, COVID, immigration. Refuses media questions. Promised to fire the Bank of Canada Governor (illegal)
10/ 🇺🇸 Trump Playbook:
Rage politics
Clickbait slogans
Fear & division
Attacks on media, teachers, experts, immigrants
Flirts with far-right influencers
Endorsed by the Convoy & conspiracy circles
11/ Danielle Smith tried to interfere in the election on his behalf. He stayed silent. Why? Because they’re on the same team. Same tactics. Same threats to our democracy.
12/ He won’t call out Trump — because he’s following his lead. The anger, the slogans, the division — all borrowed from the MAGA playbook. Don’t let the hoodie fool you.
13/ 📋 Poilievre’s “NO” Voting Record:
❌ $10/day childcare
❌ Dental care
❌ Pharmacare
❌ LGBTQ2+ protections
❌ Conversion therapy ban
❌ Indigenous reconciliation
❌ Affordable housing
❌ Rent protections
❌ Veterans support
❌ Equal pay
14/ But a big YES to:
✅ Corporate tax breaks
✅ Austerity cuts
✅ Propping up the wealthy
The working class? Thrown under the bus.
15/ 🚨 This is just the surface. Pierre Poilievre is not a political outsider. He is the system. 20 years inside Ottawa.
No real-world experience.
No solutions.
No vision.
Just division, distortion, and denial.
16/ He doesn’t want to tear down elites. He wants to be one. Same tactics. Same talking points. Same playbook. He’s not fighting the system — he’s campaigning to run it.
17/ 🇨🇦 The Prime Minister we need? Someone with decency, integrity, and real-life experience. Someone who can reimagine our economy — and lead for the majority of Canadians. In my opinion? That’s not Pierre. #cdnpoli #PierrePoilievre #CharacterMatters

🧵 Tweet Thread: Observations from a Visit to Fredericton Legislature
1/ Today, I visited @Gov_NB legislature to witness our democracy in action. It was a unique experience that I highly recommend to everyone. Here are my observations:
2/ The presence of prayer in the house caught my attention. In a diverse province, it raises questions about how we decide who to worship. Many municipalities have stopped this practice. The behavior changed significantly once the Lord's Prayer concluded.
3/ There's a lot of jeering, talking over each other, and theatrics in the legislature. It is a common occurrence among most parties, although some are more aggressive. This performative behavior is geared toward the cameras.
📣 The impact of the last five weeks cannot be underestimated. The LGBTQ community, our province's reputation, and even the Team Higgs caucus members feel the repercussions.
My message is a heartfelt plea for your voices to be heard. This is not just a conversation about the LGBTQ+ community; it's about who we are as residents of New Brunswick. It's about embracing our values of kindness, inclusivity, compassion and standing up for one another.
We cannot allow our political leaders to lead us down a path of darkness driven by political motivations and disregard for the well-being of our diverse communities. Even if the polls suggest otherwise, we must affirm that we will not compromise our principles.
Throughout history, it has always been a small group of individuals who stand up for the marginalized, for justice, and for equality. But that small group grows stronger and more powerful when others join their voices.
