I’m a scientist.
Every time I hit "post," I hesitate.
Not because I doubt the science.

But because I know what’s coming....1/
Outrage, accusations, and bad-faith attacks.

People who don’t care about evidence will twist my words to fit their narrative. 2/
And sometimes, I think:
Maybe I should just stay quiet.

But silence is the enemy of progress. 3/
Fear is a powerful tool.
It keeps people from speaking up.

It allows misinformation to spread unchecked. 4/
But if we:

→ Stop explaining.
→ Stop correcting.
→ Stop pushing back.
↳ Who will fill that void?

Not facts. Not reason. Not science. 5/
Right now, the loudest voices shape public perception.
Not the best data. Not the most rigorous evidence.
And that has real-world consequences. 6/
→ It affects public policy.
→ It influences funding.
→ It determines which technologies we embrace or reject. 6/
The solution is clear:-

1. Scientists must step forward - even when it’s uncomfortable.

2. We need to challenge false narratives with facts, not fear.

3. Public discourse should be driven by evidence, not outrage. 7/
The world we want won’t be shaped by silence.

It will be shaped by those willing to stand up for the evidence, no matter how loud the opposition gets.

France just quietly banned something from school lunches.

Not junk food.
Not sugar.
Soy.

Yes, you read that right. Soy.

Let's check it out. 🧵 1/
More precisely: ANSES recommends avoiding soy-based ingredients rich in isoflavones in collective catering.

Think schools. Hospitals. Canteens.

Why?
Because isoflavones can act like hormones. 2/
Isoflavones are phytoestrogens - plant compounds that mimic estrogen in the body.

In small doses, they’re not dangerous.

But daily exposure? For toddlers and vulnerable groups?

That’s a red flag. 3/

🚨 Greenpeace just lost $667 million in court.

This could be the biggest financial hit the organization has ever faced.

Lies, sabotage, and reckless activism that does more harm than good.

It’s time to talk about what Greenpeace really is.
🧵👇 Image
1️⃣ They ignore science when it doesn’t fit their agenda

Greenpeace opposes GMOs even though they can reduce pesticide use and fight malnutrition.

They fought Golden Rice, a vitamin A-enriched crop that could have saved millions from blindness and death.
The scientific consensus is clear: GMOs are safe. But Greenpeace prefers fear over facts.

A chemical’s name tells you nothing about whether it’s safe or dangerous.

But that doesn’t stop people from freaking out over “scary-sounding” chemicals while trusting “natural” ones without question.

Let’s fix that. 🧵👇
Ever heard of dihydrogen monoxide?
Sounds dangerous, right?

That’s water. 💧 You drink it every day.
Meanwhile, botulinum toxin is one of the deadliest substances known. It can kill in micrograms.

Yet people inject it into their faces as Botox.

π is everywhere. And no, not just in circles.

You learned π (3.14…) in school and probably thought it was just about circles.

Wrong. π is one of the most important numbers in science

It shapes your world in ways you never realized: 🧵1/
#piDay2025 Image
Let’s start with medicine.

MRI scans? Based on π.

Drug design? Quantum mechanics, which runs on π.

Even the diffusion of oxygen in your blood follows π-based equations. 2/ Image
Now, energy & climate.

Solar panels? Their efficiency is modeled using π.

Battery storage? π is in the equations predicting how energy flows.

Weather forecasting? The way air circulates in the atmosphere depends on π. 3/ Image

I'm a Chemist.
10 years in the lab taught me one thing.
Everything you think about chemicals is wrong.
Here’s what they don’t want you to know: 🧵 1/ Image
There’s no such thing as “chemical-free.”

That "chemical-free" label on your food, shampoo or cleaning product? It’s a lie.

Water is a chemical.
Air is made of chemicals.

If someone claims their product is “chemical-free,” they are clueless and trying to fool you. 2/
The dose makes the poison.

Arsenic is natural, but even a tiny amount can kill.

Meanwhile, synthetics like aspartame are safe at levels far higher than what you’ll ever consume.

It’s not about where a chemical comes from.
It’s about how much you’re exposed to. 3/

A recent publication titled "Pesticides have negative effects on non-target organisms" has received recent media attention.

Research on environmental effects is always valuable, and this study needs to be put into context.

Let me do that here: 🧵👇 1/ Image
1. The Study Focuses on Effects, Not Risk.

The research highlights potential negative effects of pesticides but does not assess real-world risk. This is a critical distinction in toxicology.

Risk = Hazard × Exposure. 2/
→ The presence of a hazard does not mean significant harm unless exposure levels are relevant.

Many substances, including common chemicals found in food and nature, can show sublethal effects in certain conditions but do not pose a real-world threat. 3/
