He was a personal friend of psychologist Timothy Leary who lead the counterculture movement of the 60’s and 70’s and was referred to as “The most dangerous man in the world” by President Nixon.

Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin were closely linked—both personally and politically. They co-founded the Youth International Party, better known as the Yippies, in the late 1960s. The Yippies were a radical countercultural group that specialized in theatrical, media-savvy political protests—essentially using satire and performance art to criticize the establishment. They were often described as political pranksters, and both Hoffman and Rubin were at the heart of that movement.
