It seems likely that, amongst those MSPs speaking in today's debate to express their opposition to Ash Regan's bill, there will be sex buyers. The question is: will they reveal their 'lived experience'? #unbuyable dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-…Image
"We cannot punish 'clients'", says Green MSP Maggie Chapman. Clients being (predominantly) men buying sex.
Ruth Maguire MSP asks Chapman if sex work is work, should we be offering it as an option to job seekers.

She advised that it "could be discriminatory" to exclude Upton from a female changing room and suggested it "might be worth" having a conversation to ask if the trans employee (Dr Upton) was "open about their trans status".
Jane Russell KC has just asked Bumba to look at the policies of several English NHS Trusts and other Scottish health boards which also advised that trans staff could use facilities based on their gender identity. "Everyone else was doing it" seems to be the defence...?

A few observations... SNP, Liberal Democrat and Green councillors all referred to 'cis' women. Labour and Conservative councillors did not.

Motion tabled for next week's meeting of @Edinburgh_CC calls for council to "review its future SLAs and contracts with service providers offering support to people facing domestic abuse and sexual violence to make it clear that we expect services to be fully trans inclusive". Image
The motion has been tabled in response to the recent announcement by Edinburgh Women's Aid's decision to exclude all males from its adult group work services and shared refuge spaces, including its 24 hours refuge.
The motion has been tabled by Scottish Green councillor Alex Staniforth. Full papers for the meeting of the council on 20 March can be found here. democracy.edinburgh.gov.uk/ieListDocument…Image
