We are excited to introduce x402–a new open source payments protocol built on HTTP rails.
Let’s break it down:
x402 is fixing the internet’s first mistake.
Onchain payments are now easy and frictionless, opening new use cases for agentic commerce for API providers, context retrieval protocols, content creators, and more.
First, a little history:
HTTP 402 “Payment Required” has been a part of the internet’s blueprint for decades, but it was never used.
x402 turns this 402 status code into a real payment layer—letting any server request payment, and any client (human or agent) respond with digital dollars, i.e. stablecoins like USDC.
Research shows that agents that have access to external APIs, context, and tools consistently outperform models who only have access to internal reasoning or websearch.
Today, giving agents access to external context and APIs is a high-friction process, with lots of manual configuration that prevents agents from autonomously accessing external services.
By enabling the API and context providers to monetize without requiring human-in the loop configuration, x402 removes a key bottleneck to agentic autonomy.
Agents can now pay per API call—no human intervention, and no more managing payments for each integration. Make your AI agents fully autonomous with x402.
For API providers and developers, subscription models are outdated, UX-heavy, and cumbersome for agents to navigate. Pay-per-use APIs without subscriptions are now possible with x402.
Pay-per-use API microtransactions have the potential to “kill the API key” and replace it with a paradigm where an API request is simply bundled with an onchain payment signature to authorize a request.
This approach is more scalable, more efficient, and (finally) economically viable, – and it opens up a new onchain business model for content and cloud service providers.
Content creators, you can now monetize your content as model context without the need for blanket subscriptions or credit card minimums and enjoy near-zero fees and nearly instant payments.
Imagine unlocking your content for your audience by letting them pay by article read, second watched or minute streamed.
For service providers, CDP can help you with:
→ Easy x402 integration
→ No chargebacks or middlemen
→ Built-in compliance and security
→ Real time revenue, balance, and transaction dashboards
We’re excited to build out x402 alongside our community and create an open standard to drive forward agentic finance. We’re open to any contributions to the open-source x402 protocol repo, and plan to decentralize our roadmap soon.
A huge thank you to our x402 launch collaborators:
@AnthropicAI, @awscloud, @base, @calcom, @chainlink, @circle, @fewsats, @hyperbolic_labs, and @NEARProtocol.

Here are our top 3 moments ↓
(1) Hackathon debuts:
AgentKit hit the ground running with its first hackathons—one at our own SF AI Hackathon and a hacker house at mtndao in Salt Lake City. Dev builds ranged from DeFi agents to AI governance tools.
We also shipped @Solana support at @mtndao—expanding beyond EVM.
Exciting news, the CDP Affiliate Program is live via @fuul_xyz. Earn up to $300 for onboarding your first active developer to CDP, and they can earn up to $65 for building onchain.
Here’s everything you need to know. 🧵👇
@fuul_xyz How affiliate rewards work:
→ Sign up for a @fuul_xyz account and generate a referral link
→ Share content driving devs to onboard to CDP
→ Earn $300 in ETH when your first referred dev becomes active
→ Earn $50 in ETH per active referred dev each week (capped at $500/week)
What counts as a referred active developer?
A referred active dev must:
→ Sign up via your Fuul referral link and create a Fuul account
→ Be a first-time CDP user
→ Make 100+ API calls (excluding GET requests) in a week (Mon-Sun)
The restaking protocol continues making waves as the ETH deposits pour in. Over the past week, its TVL has jumped to nearly $8B.
Let's dive in — even if you’re a protocol pro, you might learn something new. 🧵
What’s EigenLayer?
It’s a protocol designed to extend Ethereum's economic security (courtesy of ≈30M staked ETH, or nearly $88B) to secure a broader range of decentralized services.
It accomplishes this by introducing the novel concept of "restaking."
Restaking enables validators to use already-staked ETH to secure new projects (aka Actively Validated Services, AVS) — earning additional staking rewards along the way.
But it also increases slashing risk as validators must opt in to new SLA agreements w/ each AVS.
Happy @arbitrum Day! This time last year, the @offchainlabs Nitro upgrade went through and on August 31, 2021, Arbitrum One launched!
There’s no shortage of innovation coming from @offchainlabs team and today is no different. What has the team been building? 🧵
2/ Let’s start with Orbit 🪐
The ability to launch your own custom chain with ease has become invaluable. Within the Arbitrum ecosystem, Orbit allows you to do just that, offering options such as rollups like Arbitrum One or AnyTrust chains like Arbitrum Nova.
3/ Next up is BOLD: You want fraud proofs?! Arbitrum has those! You want decentralized and permissionless fraud proofs?! BOLD, their new challenge protocol for Arbitrum Nitro chains, gives you that!
1/ 🎉 Coinbase Wallet as a Service has now launched on mainnet, bringing seamless web3 onboarding to everyone, everywhere!
2/ With Wallet as a Service, users can create, access, and restore their wallets using just a username and password, all embedded directly within your app.
3/ Leveraging multi-party computation (MPC), wallets created with Wallet as a Service help protect user assets by securely dividing, encrypting, and distributing keys across multiple parties.
1/ Coinbase Cloud has been supporting @Solana since their earliest testnets. As a leading validator, we wanted to highlight Solana’s latest technical progress for the community. 🧵
2/ There are two improvements that stand out:
- The network has been upgraded to fix the issues that led to prior outages
- As a testament to the efficacy of these upgrades, the network continues to run under meaningful load and it has done so successfully over the past two weeks
3/ On network upgrades…
QUIC, Stake-weighted Quality-of-Service (QoS), and Fee Markets are all live and being fully rolled out 💪
