x402 is great out of the box for pay-per-request APIs

But real-world billing is rarely that simple (subscriptions, top-ups, metering…)

The good news? @coinbase's protocol is flexible enough to support all of that

We just added top-ups to Proxy402 🧵 Image
With top-ups, you can define payment plans where each request consumes a credit.

Clients can pay once, receive reusable credentials, and make N calls without reauthenticating or repaying.

Think prepaid access with fine-grained control over usage.

proxy402.com
Just send the same payment header on each call and the proxy keeps track of the usage and remaining balance automatically.

As always, everything’s open source. Peek into the code and build on top 🛠️
