HHS Director Robert F. Kennedy did not swim in Rock Creek as he claimed, but rather was in a waterfall pool of an unnamed stream which is a tributary of the Rock Creek. The location he swam is 1,200 feet away and over 90 feet in elevation higher than the polluted Rock Creek. The nearest warning sign was 1,300 feet from his location. The water in this stream is from the nearby Dumbarton Oaks Park watershed and the runoff from a Trader Joe's parking lot and several other stores on Wisconsin Avenue.
I made a video of my hiking to find the pool where RFK and his grandchildren went for a swim. It was a bit of an effort in today's weather.
