🚨 Bessent Calls for Curb on Fed Authority, Accuses It of Distorting Economy

He says the Fed has been running “gain-of-function” monetary experiments that:

👉 Distorted markets
👉 Fueled inflation
👉 Enriched elites

And he’s calling to STRIP its power. 🧵

“The Fed must change course.”

He wants an independent review of the entire institution—policy, regulation, communications, staffing, research.

Powell’s term ends in May. Trump just named his shortlist of 3 to replace him.

And all of them share one thing: They want lower rates & faster growth. 🧵

– Kevin Hassett (Trump’s NEC Director)
– Kevin Warsh (former Fed board member)
– Christopher Waller (current Fed governor)

Treasury Sec. Scott Bessent was rumored but says he’s not leaving Treasury.

3/ Why it matters:

Trump has clashed with Powell for years. He wants cut rates to slash borrowing costs, fuel growth, and supercharge America’s economy.

Powell? He’s kept rates at 4.25–4.5% for 5 meetings in a row.

But he cut rates to help Kamala last fall. So "independent".
