Here are some useful facts about the importance of Medicaid, cutting $800 million and adding more work requirements will be catastrophic to the 1 in 5 Americans that receive Medicaid benefits.
Medicaid is a key source of coverage for certain populations. In 2023, Medicaid covered nearly 4 in 10 children, over 8 in 10 children in poverty, 1 in 6 adults, and almost half of adults in poverty.
Relative to White children and adults, Medicaid covers a higher share of Black, Hispanic, and American Indian or Alaska Native (AIAN) children and adults.
Medicaid covers more than 1 in 4 adults ages 19-64 with disabilities, who are defined as having one or more difficulty related to hearing, vision, cognition, ambulation, self-care, or independent living
Medicaid provides coverage for several special populations.  For example, Medicaid covers 41% of all births in the United States, 50% of children with special health care needs.
5 in 8 nursing home residents, 29% of non-elderly adults with any mental illness, and 40% of non-elderly adults with HIV.
Medicaid pays Medicare premiums and often provides wraparound coverage for services not covered by Medicare (like most long-term care) for nearly 1 in 5 Medicare beneficiaries (13 million).
Medicaid is a key source of coverage for individuals experiencing homelessness and those transitioning out of carceral settings, particularly in states that have adopted the Medicaid expansion.
Medicaid law, all states elect to cover optional benefits including prescription drugs and home care. Home care, also known as home or HCBS, is long-term care provided in non-institutional settings including homes, day care centers, and assisted living facilities.
Other long-term care is provided in institutions such as nursing facilities. Medicaid is the primary payer for long-term care in the United States, covering 61% of total spending. Beyond long-term care,
Medicaid provides other benefits not usually covered by health insurance including non-emergency medical transportation, which helps enrollees get to appointments, and comprehensive benefits for children, known as Early Periodic Screening Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) services.
A large body of research shows that Medicaid beneficiaries have substantially better access to care than people who are uninsured (who are also primarily low-income) and are less likely to postpone or go without needed care due to cost.
Longstanding research shows that Medicaid eligibility during childhood is associated with positive effects on health (including reduced avoidable hospitalizations and mortality) and impacts beyond health, such as improved long-run educational attainment.
Medicaid expansions to low-income adults are associated with increased access to care, increased economic security, improved self-reported health status, and other outcomes including increased early-stage cancer diagnosis rates, lower mortality rates for certain conditions
and improved outcomes related to substance use disorders.
Research conducted by NBER(National Bureau of Economic Research) suggests that the ACA Medicaid expansion had impacts beyond health care use, including on consumer financial outcomes – reducing unpaid bills and medical debt sent to collections.
If people lose their Medicaid benefits, rural hospitals will close, ERs will get overwhelmed with patients and bad debt. Veterans, seniors, students, active military members depend on Medicaid. Addiction will rise, preventable deaths will increase.

Any provider or person like Senator Rick Scott that commits insurance fraud, should absolutely face federal charges. But don’t punish the millions of people just trying to get by the best that they can.

Some people think those who receive SNAP benefits mooch off the system. Here are some facts about how beneficial this program is to the economy. The more you know.
SNAP recipients generally spend their benefits soon after receiving them, spending that has cascading effects throughout the economy.
A recent ERS analysis finds that during a slowing economy, $1 billion in new SNAP benefits would increase the GDP by $1.54 billion in 54 percent. $1 billion in new SNAP benefits would generate an additional $32 million in income for the U.S.

Here’s a quick run down Mark “Clayton Bigsby” Robinson, the guy Trump just endorsed in NC… buckle up kids: In 1980 he paid his girlfriend to get an abortion: fast forward to present day where he says abortion should be banned without exception
and that if females just kept their skirts down they could avoid rape and pregnancy. He wants to ban science and social services from K-6th grade.
Robinson thinks the Holocaust was nothing more than Hitler’s shenanigans and Tomfoolery. The world’s banks are run by a cabal of Jews… but wait there’s more.

Dear uncommitted voters in Michigan, I get it… what’s going on in Gaza is horrific. I get that you want Biden to call for a Ceasefire now. I get that you don’t want your tax dollars contributing to the death and destruction. With that being said…
Do you get that Trump and the republicans are committed to destroying Gaza? Do you get that Trump and Bibi are BFFs? Do you get that Trump tried to impose a Muslim ban? Do you get that Trump would send Israel bulldozers to level out Gaza?
Let’s stop calling it “uncommitted” because that is a farce. Not voting for Biden would mean you’re voting for a party committed to banning books, sexual identity, who you love, how you love. They are committed to dictating when and how you procreate.

Dear Republican women, we need to talk. How many of you had a miscarriage? How many wanted that baby, planned for that baby, already loved that baby? 16% of pregnancies ended from a miscarriage, and I can guarantee it didn’t just happen to democrats. Want to know why?
The States with the highest fetal mortality rates are red. States like Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Texas, Tennessee and Arkansas. As some of you know, many of those miscarriages required a D/C and or medication assistance.
1 in every 50 pregnancies is an ectopic pregnancy. Which is the leading cause of maternal mortality. The States with highest ectopic pregnancy rates: Red Republican States.. with all these statistics, I must ask, why?

Here goes my thread. I keep hearing the phrase “this isn’t your parents Republican Party” and it’s been bothering me for oh so many reasons. One big reason is that no one pushes back on that fallacy. Of course this is your parents Republican Party just in modern times.
Republicans love to proclaim they are the party of fiscal responsibility. Ten of the eleven U.S. recessions between 1953 and 2020 began under Republican presidents. Every time a Republican took over from a Democrat, GDP growth fell. Every time a Dem took control the GDP rose.
Is it fiscally responsible to let private jet and yacht owners get 100% tax write offs for their million dollar purchases? But demand work requirements for those living below poverty just trying to feed their kids?

$1 billion in new SNAP benefits would generate an additional $32 million in income for the U.S. agriculture industries and support an additional 480 full-time agriculture jobs. The expanded benefits would also boost income in the agriculture industries by $32 million.
for every $1 increase in SNAP benefits, there is a $1.70 increase in economic activity. When someone spends their SNAP dollars produce at a grocery store, not only do they benefit, but the people who work at the grocery store, and the farmer who grew the produce also benefit.
