SitRep - 01/06/25 - Ukraine conducted operation Spiderweb✈️🔥

An overview of the daily events in Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Today Ukraine conducted a very special operation, deep inside Russia. It struck and destroyed lots of strategic aviation.

We start with Russian losses.
Ukraine's GUR confirmed an attack on a freight train in occupied Melitopol area.
Russian recon drones taken down.
A Zoopark-1 destroyed
A failed/thwarted attack near Siversk.
Then... big news started coming in. Explosions were reported near Olenya Air Base. One of Russia's main aviation hubs from which Tupolev bombers often lift off to strike at Ukrainian cities.
Soon footage started coming in, not aware yet of what was happening.
It very soon became known: Ukraine was conducting a huge operation deep in Russia's rear.
FPV drones were seen slamming into Russian strategic aviation in both Olenya and Irkutsk.
Russian soldiers confirmed. Strategic aviation was burning.
One of Ukraine's most succesful operations during the war was underway.
Meanehile the AFU also reported on a massive overnight strike by Russia. But it didn't withhold them from started the operation today.
Russians soon became aware what was happening. Ukraine had prepared trucks and container and located them close to strategic aviation air bases. In these containers, prepared FPVs would strike the aircraft.
Meanwhile, explosions were also heard in Severomorsk.
Russians filmed the actual trucks and containers that Ukraine had secretly smuggled into Russia. After the operation they caught fire in order to remove evidence.
A Russian BM-21 destroyed
In Irkutsk, at least four and possibly a fifth strategic bomber have burned down.
Ukraine's SBU started releasing footage of the operation itself.
Malyuk looking at blueprints of five strategic air bases in Russia which were the target of the operation.
AASM Hammer strikes on Russian positions.
Explosions and smoke were also seen at Dyagilevo and Ivanovo Severny air bases. Satellite images will have to tell which damage has been done there.
It looks like one truck carrying drones was aimed for Ukrainka air base, but caught fire and exploded too early.
Russia admitted defeat.
Russian equipment destroyed.
Lets continue with the general events. Ukraine lost servicemen after an attack on a training ground.
During today's operation, the Kremlin held an emergency meeting on what was happening, and how it could have happened
Zelensky confirmed Ukraine's delegation will travel to Istanbul tomorrow.
Following the disaster at the training ground, Drapatiy resigned.
Talks are scheduled tomorrow.
The US was aware of Ukrainian plans to strike Russian airbases. Axios later changed their initial claim.

Zelensky met with Malyuk. The two were fully responsible for this operation.
Zelensky also responded, taking responsibility and claiming success.
Despite today's Ukrainian operation, talks are still scheduled for tomorrow.
