It’s interesting to note that the same people who pop up with “fascism expert here!” whenever anyone suggests that we ought to change the sales-tax rate always seem to stay deathly silent after, say, a man throws Molotov cocktails at Jews in a public park.
However tenuous, it always “says so much”; there’s always a “pattern” we must “unpack”; there’s always a “link” we must “discern.” Until it’s actually a guy throwing glass bottles full of fire at Jews, at which point it’s unworthy of historical parallel.
Deregulation, tariffs, unitary executive theory, charter schools, immigration enforcement, spending cuts, patriotism—all these things get the @ruthbenghiat treatment. But firebombing Jewish people? That's ignored.
@ruthbenghiat I mean that quite literally. Since yesterday,
@ruthbenghiat—the "expert here!" queen—has described DOGE as a "crime against humanity" and explained how America is a "gangster state." Nothing on this. The real threat, you see, is Lindsey Graham.
@ruthbenghiat The same is true of the headlines. The instinct of pretty much every outlet was to run a story titled, "Plausibly intentional glass-delivered partial-conflagration causes response near Rocky Mountain foothills."

That's not a joke. Biden just pardoned his whole family for everything they did since January 1, 2014. justice.gov/pardon/media/1…
CBS says that the "optics" of Biden issuing a blanket pardon to his entire family that covers more than a decade "don't help." Sure, that's the problem.
I'm trying to get inside the head of anyone—Biden included, if he's aware of it—who thought that it would be a good idea for the president of the United States to tweet out that he was unilaterally declaring that the Constitution had been amended. It's so deliciously humiliating.
And not just humiliating for Biden and his team. Humiliating for all those people who said Biden was a decent guy who respects the law and America's institutions and were rewarded with the student-loan grab, eviction moratorium, pardon of Hunter, and now this. It's hilarious.
I’m told by a doctor friend that Biden has that strain of Covid that requires him to quarantine until he’s officially the nominee of the Democratic Party. It’s a brutal mutation.
Covid-24
Alarmingly, my doctor friend also told me that, while he’s vaccinated, the most recent booster might not help Biden if it was administered while he was on a sloped roof.
This piece describes a political conspiracy. The people who orchestrated it extend well beyond Joe Biden. They include his most likely replacement—Kamala Harris. It cannot be fixed just by swapping her in and moving on. There must be a political price to pay for all involved. (1)
The press insists it didn’t know. If that’s the case, then the White House—including Kamala Harris—has successfully conspired to hide vital information from the media about the president. What does the media, which considers itself sacred and crucial, intend to do about that? (2)
This isn’t just about Joe Biden. It’s about everyone around him. This administration. This campaign. This party. If the press is telling the truth about being assiduously duped, this is a national scandal—a fraud, even. It will taint all connected to it for years. (3)
I've never understood this response to the enforcement of the Bill of Rights. We see it in criminal law, too. "But if the Bill of Rights is enforced, then the government won't be able to do whatever it wants to do in this area." Yes?
"But if we presume innocence/put it before a jury/mandate due process/require a statute/allow the right of confrontation/demand that that charges be laid out . . ."
