Don’t want to buy 1of10, Viewstats, VidIQ or other expensive 3rd-party tools for thumbnail inspiration?

This is how you can consistently find outlier thumbnails + titles, completely free🧵

Setting up this system will take ~30 mins but once it’s in place, it will work on auto mode, saving you a TON of money every month.

Step 1:
Create a fresh YouTube account. You’re NOT going to 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩 any video on this.

This is only going to be for thumbnail inspo.

Step 2:
Install the 1of10 Chrome extension on your browser.

Don’t worry, it’s free.

What does this extension do? It shows outlier scores for each video on a channel.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼?

It's a video which gets significantly more views than the channel’s average.

It's an indicator that the video appeals to viewers 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 than the channel's subscribers, and the algorithm is pushing these out NEW people.

Which means that there is something in them which the algorithm loves.

Step 3:
This is where stuff gets serious.

I’m going to give you a list of channels you’re going to subscribe to on your 𝘯𝘦𝘸 account.

Do NOT skip this step. It’s the most crucial one of all.

Ready for it? Just copy and paste each line into the search bar on YouTube, hit subscribe, and move on to the next channel.

These channels are a mix of big & small creators, faceless and branded channels, spread across different niches.

This will give you a variety of thumbnail styles, old and new formats, and titles to work with.

This is all you have to do to set up the new account and give the algorithm some data to work with.

Step 4:
Set a timer for 10 mins daily and scroll on this homepage.

𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿: 𝗗𝗼 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼, 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗴𝗼.

This account is not curated by your personal interests/hobbies, but for visual inspiration.

You’ll see a mix of thumbnails, from channels you subbed to and channels the algo thinks are similar.

These are the 3 things you’re looking for in each thumbnail:
1. Are views more than 4k?
2. Does it make sense within 3 seconds?
3. Is the design unique?

If the answer is yes to each of these questions, click on the channel link below the title, and go to the ‘Videos’ tab.

Immediately, you’ll see the outlier scores of each video.

If the channel is in your niche, subscribe to it. Otherwise, just look for videos with outlier scores more than 2x.
