The Israeli army estimates there are 1.85 million people in Gaza. Subtracting the 100,000 estimated to have left for Egypt before Israel occupied Rafah crossing, it puts the death toll at an estimated 400,000.

OK folks, I’m seeing a lot of questions about this, so to clarify: in 2023 the estimated population in Gaza was 2.3million. The account was originated with the UN, it would regularly be cited by human rights organizations and in media reports. This is the first page of the search Image

You’ll note one story from all the above, by UNRWA is different from the rest, because it discusses that they’ve changed the number from 2.3 to 2.1 on July 2024, but does not explain why. Human rights organizations, the media, and @theIPCinfo followed suit

Folks, this horrible photo is making the rounds again, so here are two things to know about it👇🧵

1⃣ This is the earliest post of this picture, look at the date. It is proof that Israel used systematic sexual violence from day one.
2⃣ The @clashreport image was blurred, but on 16 Jan 2024, the same image, this time unblurred, was published by @/MOSSADil with the quote "and upon the earth beneath: there is none else" (Deuteronomy 4:39)

Translator's note: The full verse isn't really important; the reason @/MOSSADil chose this quote is because the word for 'beneath' in modern Hebrew also means "ass". The sentence doesn't even really make sense in the context of the image.
