.@MBDAGroup is going to work with a car manufacturer to help produce its new long-range missile. This capability, which can overwhelm enemy defences, is intended for production of up to 1,000 units per month, or more if necessary.
The One Way Effector is a missile with a range of 500 kilometres. The aim of this collaboration is to leverage the expertise of the automotive industry in mass production, an area in which the defence industry remains poorly structured.

“The automotive industry has a perfect mastery of large-scale production, which is becoming essential in the current context.” — @MBDAGroup
This partnership should enable MBDA to reach an important industrial milestone. The group has been under increasing pressure to meet production deadlines for over a year.
In early 2024, the Minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, publicly expressed his dissatisfaction on several occasions, particularly regarding the production rates of the Aster 30 missile, which did not meet the government’s expectations despite the commitments made.
In response, MBDA made significant investments, including placing advance orders for special steels and building up stocks of titanium for several thousand missiles, while also gradually ramping up assembly lines.
However, the classic model is no longer sufficient. With the “One Way Effector”, MBDA is focusing on a simpler, lower-cost missile that can be produced quickly and in large volumes.
The development of the One Way Effector responds to a demand from Western armed forces for a complement to high-precision missiles that is capable of saturating enemy defences and meeting the operational constraints of a high-intensity conflict.
Officially launching the project at the Paris Air Show, MBDA represents a paradigm shift in its industrial approach. The partnership with the automotive industry is the first milestone and could lead to further collaborations.
For now, MBDA’s primary objective is to produce quickly, in large quantities and reliably. Following months of public criticism of production rates, MBDA is keen to demonstrate its adaptability.
Regarding the increase in the defence budget, the President of the Republic is expected to “announce decisions for the current year and next year in the coming weeks”.
Emmanuel Macron believes that defence budgets must continue to increase in order to “strengthen Europe’s strategic autonomy”.
He also believes that Europe must remain clear-headed, as the United States of America is “increasingly looking elsewhere”, as evidenced by the presence of American troops on NATO’s flank.
“Disagreements over sending troops to Ukraine are just the tip of the iceberg in much tougher negotiations over the country’s ‘militarization,’ according to numerous European sources who are increasingly speaking out openly.”

“Nearly two months after Donald Trump officially launched peace negotiations between the Russians and Americans over the fate of Ukraine, the series of summits and meetings at all levels among Kyiv’s Western allies increasingly resembles a long, endless tunnel.”
“The main cause of this paralysis is well known : the total lack of transparency regarding the discussions between Moscow and Washington, from which these allies remain excluded.”
The gunners took up positions in houses with cellars that had been abandoned by civilians. They only leave when the order to fire is given.
During their mission, the soldiers of the Skala Regiment stay in a cellar with a single bed, about 6 square metres in size. They only leave the cellar to fire their guns. In the last few days they have fired about thirty shots.
“Helping Kyiv is therefore not only a moral obligation, but also an investment in our own security. Ukraine is fighting heroically for us and for our future.” — @partisocialiste
The Social Democrats advocate greater strategic autonomy, higher military spending and increased military aid to Ukraine.
“Ukraine is fighting for its freedom, but also for ours: as socialists we must be the driving force behind its resistance and reconstruction.”

“In the face of imperialism and threats to our democracies, we want a Socialist Party fully committed to a strong, sovereign Europe, faithful to its values of justice and solidarity.”
“I am going to say [to Donald Trump], ‘deep down, you can not be weak in the face of President Putin. This is not you. This is not your trademark. How can you be credible in the face of China if you are weak in the face of Putin ?” — @EmmanuelMacron
Emmanuel Macron believes that “our security and France’s interests are at stake” as the United States and Russia begin negotiations over the war in Ukraine.
The President of the Republic believes that Ukraine has “resisted enormously, but the situation is worrying” while the Americans and Russians are discussing a possible draft ceasefire agreement without consulting the Ukrainian armed forces.
“Already 24 Ukrainian [aspiring pilots] have undergone initial training in the United Kingdom. The [RAF] hopes to train 20 per year. The trainee pilots will then leave for France in spring 2025, where they will continue their training for six months on faster aircraft (Alphajets, also used by the Patrouille de France). Then, they will go to Romania to actually fly the F-16s.”

“For six months, the ten Ukrainian soldiers will be trained by the Royal Air Force, who will teach them the basics of navigation and flying on combat aircraft, as well as the basics of English as part of the Interstorm programme.”
“On this freezing Monday in February, at this airbase in the east of the Midlands, the dozen Grob Tutors, small German-made training aircraft used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) to train its pilots, remain well aligned on the ground : the cloud cover is far too low to fly.”
