Since Namjoon has been announced as the new Samsung Art TV global ambassador and is set to attend Art Basel in Switzerland as well as give a talk, I thought I would create this thread for fun to talk about Art Basel and what it is: 🧵

I'm doing this because I actually love art so much, and have been the Art Basel in Hong Kong a lot of times. So seeing Namjoon be able to go to Art Basel and contribute like this makes me very happy and excited.

Art Basel is a world-renowned, international art fair that hosts shows in Basel, Miami Beach, Hong Kong, and Paris. It showcases a variety of artworks from artists and gives them a chance to shine, as well as auction off their art. There are both famous and new artists alike.

Namjoon previously went to Art Basel in 2022, which was included in his art gallery vlog posted on BANGTANTV:

Samsung is one of Art Basel's many official partners, which is what led to Namjoon's trip to Switzerland this year. He will host a special session to share his thoughts on contemporary art, collecting and the cultural significance of visual storytelling on the 18th of June.

For any armys who wish to attend Art Basel this year, the fair is divided into many sections that can help you choose where to go. The Galleries is the fair's main sector and features mainly modern pieces by younger contemporary artists.

Unlimited, curated by Giovanni Carmine is an immersive experience with projects that transcend the usual art fair booths.
Feature is a sector specifically curated by 20th century artists for historical presentations.

Statements is a gallery meant for aspiring young artists, their solo projects will be eligible for the Baloise Art Prize.

Lastly, it is well-known how passionate Namjoon is about art and his own collection of various pieces show that. He even mentioned during the Art Basel podcast that he wishes to one day open an art gallery to showcase his collection, possibly alongside other Korean artists.

I think this is an amazing opportunity for him not only to explore the art industry but also to establish his name further and show his passion for art. I personally can't wait to hear his thoughts during the talk session, and will post about where to listen to it soon.
