@faboIus @JayTibbs23 "Prophet" is not sequential or part of the same literary universe, but carries a lot of the same mechanisms and conveys the 'shock and awe' of being immediately connected with spiritual stimuli those who have actually been born again will immediately recognize.

@faboIus @JayTibbs23 I read it in my youth, it was quite terrifying.
I had problems then, not debilitating but disturbing nonetheless, with fear of the unknown or darkness.
Rather unfettered access to what the world thought was acceptable media didn't help.
This book isn't about aliens, but sin.

@faboIus @JayTibbs23 I should say that, where our fear (not terror) ought to be oriented around the Living God and our desire to never drop His expectation, sin is the behavior of dropping his expectation; this book puts fear where it belongs.

Not just a thriller novel, but a characterization of sin I have never seen elsewhere.
At present time, I couldn't agree more with it's debilitating nature characterized in the book.
The hero struggles, succumbs to personal flaw, and struggles more to persevere.

Don't shy away from the youth books either if you find the time.
