I was in a car accident in 2012. I nearly died. I spent a few days in ICU. They considered removing my foot, and I was wheelchair bound for 6 months due to a shattered femur.

This happened in 2017. My ex-wife was in absolute shambles and I had to figure out what to do. I couldn’t pay back $60,000! I only made $80,000 a year! Not to mention I owed close to $500,000 for lifesaving services.

I had to file bankruptcy. It completely derailed and 2/*

ruined my life. Objectively my life is 100% worse for the fact that I had to deal with this. I was a passenger in the car. The lady that hit us? Head on? At 70? She was reaching for her phone because “it fell on the floor.”

She drifted into our lane. She nearly killed me and 3/*

The friend who was driving us to our vacation spot. WE WERE ON VACATION!

She walked away. We were airlifted out. We nearly died. SHE. WALKED. AWAY. And the crippling debt ruined the life I had made for myself. My independence ripped from me in my early 20s.

job simply by stroke of luck. I could pick my life up, and push forward, because I had to. People relied on me. In my family I was the only one that really worked. The only one with a solid marketable skill in the mid 2010s. I was in my mid fucking 20s. I survived by luck. 5/*

I think about how different my life would be, had that woman not hit us. Had I had health insurance. Had I not had to pick myself up by my literal bootstraps. I didn’t qualify for food stamps, even part time after the accident.

People shouldnt have to live like this. Our country has such affluence. We process so much “currency” that it’s literally meaningless.

Politicians and society let people suffer because it makes them feel superior to others.

Sortof lost my point here, a little drunk, but. Life doesn’t have to be like this. When I think about what my life would have been if capitalism wasn’t the game, it breaks my heart.

Why do we let others tear people down?

Be the kindness you want to see, but don’t be afraid to defend those who need defending, even if you have to get nasty.

We protect people.

We are more numerous than them.

They spread fear because they fear what will happen if we band together.
