When There’s Nothing Left to Say – Where Do You Look?
In these days when we can often feel betrayed, defeated, taken captive by hostile forces (basic freedoms ripped away) and as days of futile efforts, this is how the LORD woke me up this morning. He reminded me that our feelings can be misleading and what we see is not always as
it seems. When He guided me to this chapter and I read it (not knowing what I would even be able to write this morning), verse 11 really spoke to me along with, of course verse 15.

3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all
Judah. 4 So Judah gathered together to ask help from the Lord; and from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord.

5 Then Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord, before the new court, 6 and said: “O Lord God of our fathers,
are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You? 7 Are You not our God, who drove out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel, and gave it to
the descendants of Abraham Your friend forever? 8 And they dwell in it, and have built You a sanctuary in it for Your name, saying, 9 ‘If disaster comes upon us—sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine—we will stand before this temple and in Your presence (for Your name is in this
temple), and cry out to You in our affliction, and You will hear and save.’ 10 And now, here are the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir—whom You would not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them and did not destroy them— 11 here
they are, rewarding us by coming to throw us out of Your possession which You have given us to inherit. 12 O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”
13 Now all Judah, with their little ones, their wives, and their children, stood before the Lord.

14 Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of
the assembly. 15 And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. - 2 Chronicles 20:3-15
Also, as I awoke, this song by David Baloche was gently playing in my head.

Fear and Love – The Antithesis
This is the burden that the LORD placed on my heart as He woke me up this morning. The most common command that He gives in the bible is for us NOT to be afraid. He says please note that this is a command, not a guideline or a suggestion.

Then He pointed me back to the 3
epistles of John near the end of the bible. We looked at them last month where John was giving words of encouragement and reminders to a church of believers that was struggling to endure. There were efforts from a small group within them to bring division and fear and John told

The Will and the Plan of God
The well-known story of Jonah (and the whale) illustrates to us the important lesson that God’s plan is perfect and His will indeed shall be accomplished. We often have our own ideas, opinions and desires, but His word (which is His truth) does not change.

In this book about the
life of this minor prophet, God clearly calls him at the beginning of the book to go and warn Nineveh about their evil because judgment was coming. That made Jonah uncomfortable so he went in another direction and followed his own plan (one that was more comfortable to him).

Why We Fear
As a result of our natural tendencies and the nature of the fallen world around us, we all struggle with where to place our focus. We rely on our own understanding (very limited perspective) of the situations around us and focus on what the world shouts at us every day. Those
things cause us to become anxious because, well, that’s the message of this world.

But when we keep our focus on the LORD and lean on Him always, we find that

He is always there with us

He is always assuring us that He is on His throne and in control

He always reminding us

God’s Protection – Don’t Leave Home Without It
Before describing exactly what God has provided to protect us, Paul first tells why it is so very important for all of God’s people. Before going into what it is, he tells us about the nature of the attacks that we are up against (deceptive strategies). Before telling us about
the pieces of God’s armor, he warns us who the real invisible enemy is. Before all of the above, Paul tells us to put it on (don’t leave home without it).

After all of this, Paul goes through and lists out each and every one of those pieces of armor telling why they are

Houston We Have a Problem! – God’s Holiness

Yesterday we talked about God’s character of love. It’s not something that He says or does, but it is what He is. Well, there is another essence of God that is even deeper than His love… His holiness. He is holy and
He calls us to be holy (1 Thessalonians 4:7).

God’s holiness and purity is His essence that comes even before His love, mercy and grace. Before everything else, God is holy. NOTHING can ever contaminate that holiness. This is why out of His love for us, our Heavenly Father

Love is in God’s Name
One of the mistakes that we all have a tendency to make is that we put God into a little box that we can understand. We do this in so very many ways. This morning I invite us to consider Agape, God’s ultimate love. The greatest commandment calls for us to love God with all of our
heart, soul, mind, and strength. Next we are called to love our neighbor more than ourselves. (Matthew 22:37-40)

We are a work in progress. God calls us to be like Him because we were created in His image and at one time before we corrupted ourselves, we were like Him. Let’s
