Let me tell you the story of one biggest rivalries of Indian politics –
Rahul Gandhi vs Himanta Biswa Sarma
A story of arrogance, betrayal, and how Congress lost its strongest leader in Assam because of Rahul’s attitude.
1/14
Who was Himanta in Congress?
From 2001–2014, he was the backbone of Congress in Assam.
Master strategist
Tarun Gogoi’s troubleshooter
Architect of 3 consecutive wins (2001, 2006, 2011)
A rising star.
He handled key portfolios - Health, Finance, Education, and built Congress’s grassroots network.
Everyone saw Himanta as the future CM.
He was the most popular leader of Congress in Assam
But then… Rahul Gandhi happened.
After Congress’s 2014 defeat, Himanta wanted to replace Tarun Gogoi as CM to revive Assam since condition of Congress Assam was very bad and there was huge anti incumbency
So, he went to Delhi to meet Rahul Gandhi and explain the crisis.
What happened next is shocking.
2015
Instead of listening to Himanta, Rahul was busy feeding his dog Pidi and scrolling iPad.
Himanta later said:
“Rahul Gandhi was playing with his dog ‘Pidi’ when I was talking about Assam’s future.”
That was the moment he realized: Congress is doomed under Rahul.
He also told - Senior Congress Leaders Ate Biscuits From The Same Plate As Rahul Gandhi's Dog Pidi
This “Pidi incident” became a symbol of Rahul’s arrogance and casual attitude.
Himanta walked out of that meeting humiliated.
And then… he made the biggest move of his life.
August 2015: Himanta quits Congress, joins BJP.
That single decision changed Northeast politics forever:
BJP wins Assam in 2016 for the first time
Himanta becomes BJP’s master strategist
Today, he’s Assam’s CM
And Congress?
Collapsed in Assam.
Collapsed in the Northeast.
All because Rahul Gandhi couldn’t take 30 mins to listen… and gave more attention to his dog than to Assam’s future.
After leaving, Himanta kept exposing Rahul’s immaturity:
“Rahul Gandhi stands by sons & daughters of top leaders, not hardworking people.”
Rahul responded by calling him corrupt
Himanta called him “Ravan”.
Jan 2024: Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra enters Assam.
Rahul calls Himanta “India’s most corrupt CM”.
Himanta responds with FIRs and blocks Congress rallies.
The rivalry turns into a full-blown political war.
July 2025: Rahul threatens to jail Himanta after 2026 elections.
Himanta laughs and says:
“Rahul himself is out on bail in multiple cases. He is BJP’s star campaigner because wherever he goes, BJP wins.”
Let’s be honest: Congress lost its biggest asset in Assam because of Rahul Gandhi’s arrogance and lack of political sense.
Himanta was loyal, brilliant, and ambitious. Now, he’s BJP’s kingpin.
All because Rahul chose Pidi over politics.
Why does Rahul Gandhi hate Himanta?
Because Himanta exposed him.
Because Himanta refused to bow to the Gandhi family.
This isn’t just personal. It’s proof of how Rahul’s arrogance is destroying Congress from within.
Moral of the story:
Rahul Gandhi’s arrogance turned Congress from a ruling party into a joke in Assam
Himanta turned that arrogance into BJP’s biggest strength in the Northeast
The cost?
Congress might never recover in Assam.

If 'The Hindu' publishes interview of Asif Munir, then there will be huge retaliation in India, but if the same newspaper gives space to Audrey Truschke, then no retaliation happens
But what if we say people like her are more dangerous than Munir

Audrey Truschke is a asset created by Left ecosystem, groomed by Pakistan and supported by Christian missionaries with sole purpose to destroy India and Hindu civilization through academic route
