Mob Mentality – Commonality and Danger
When the Lord woke me up this morning, He had this theme on my heart of mob mentality and the way of the world. After I thought about it for a bit, it occurred to me that this is a continuation of yesterday about our focus. Mob mentality is when we give over ourselves to be
motivated by the things that are going on around us. As humans with natural feelings and psychological needs, we all want to be accepted by others. We have a deep-seeded need to fit in and to conform. This is built into our DNA.

The problem is that we give this motivation over
to what we see around us. The patterns to which we give our primary focus are the patterns that draw us to conform to them so that we will be accepted. If those patterns that we see are those of the world system, then we will long to be like the world and take steps to conform to
it (to be accepted). The world system will gladly encourage and accept us. But the things that this age has to offer us are only temporary and while they look good on the surface, they actually lead to slavery and ultimately to death.

This story has ALWAYS been true. It is the
very same story that was played out in Genesis 3 when Satan (the ruler of this world) convinced the man and the woman to take their focus off of God and to look at something of this world that was desirable to look at, but led to slavery (to sin) and ultimately to death.
This very same story is still being played out in the world in modern times today where people still try to lure others into slavery by offering them things that look pleasing to the eye (free stuff) but ultimately will lead to slavery and death. Just as it was in Genesis, the
choices and consequences have never changed. Mob mentality has always been very popular among many and has always led to calamity and disaster. Note that Jesus also warned us that this mentality is also a very real danger in the church (being motivated by the mob mentality).
The overall scripture that the Lord led me to for this mob devotional is the three verses from 1 John 2 included below. This is a great bit of spiritual breakfast nutrition to start the day. But if you have a chance today, I highly recommend you read the entire chapter. It speaks
so very loudly to us all today.

15 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our
achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. - 1 John 2:15-17

Our Focus is EVERYTHING
This week in my life I was reminded by the Lord of a valuable lesson about our focus and where we place it. It truly shapes our outlook on life and sets the tone of what we can do. As believers in Jesus, when we keep our eyes on Him and follow His lead, there are no limits to
what we can do no matter what situations come our way. Difficult situations, pain, suffering and worry are all tools that the enemy uses against us (and he is very good at it) to take our focus off of our LORD and what we know He has said. When (not if) this happens, any one of

Jehovah Jireh - The LORD Our Provider
The Lord promises to provide ALL of our needs and that all we have to do is just trust (believe in) Him. That sounds very simple but it is also very deep. He provides all of our needs in ways that we don’t even understand. He provides for needs that we didn’t even realize we
needed and He also provides them right on time (He knew we would need them even before we did). All we have to do is trust and truly believe and He takes care of the rest in a very deep way. Here is a famous example:

13 Then Abraham looked up and saw a ram caught by its horns in

This is How We Fight Our Battles
In these days of unprecedented events (both good blessings and extreme conflicts and rebellion), there is a continuous strong temptation to lash out with words of correction or retaliation. I have struggled with that intently over this past weekend watching local, national and
global events and wanting to call out people by name making a case and an argument for their rebellion, hypocrisy, lies and manipulation. Any time spent watching the news media immediately fills anyone with these desires. I have found that it doesn’t really matter which news

God is Always Good
This simple four-word message or theme is what the Lord woke me up with this morning as yet another burden on my heart. As I contemplated and reflected, I saw it as a reminder to you and me today of some important truths that will keep us focused and not distracted. The
characteristic of His goodness is shown as a theme permeating the entire bible from Genesis to Revelation (His goodness and mercy which endures forever). His intentions and plans for us are always good and never change (even when we do). His commands are always for our good.

Wherever I Go…
Today’s devotional is about one of my favorite bible verses. A dearly beloved brother who serves along side of me had a lanyard made for me with my name on one side and this verse on the other. I wear this lanyard daily in service as a reminder for me and often as a way to
generate conversation with others.

It is a verse that has kept me as a reminder even at times when I thought the sky was falling in and all was lost. During those times, it has reminded me of from where my help and strength come. It has also kept me when I have tended to stray

Fear God – The Beginning of Wisdom?
In yesterday’s devotional, I explored the idea that there is no fear in love and that God’s perfect love casts out fear. Yet the bible also teaches us in Proverbs 9:10 that “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.” Is this a contradiction? I would submit to you that it
is not at all a contradiction and here is my reason for you to consider.

It is ironic that Proverbs 9:10 was written by Solomon whom God blessed with great wisdom. When we look at the whole of Solomon’s life, we see that he lived a life of great excess with somewhat of a selfish
