What does the data say about Hugo Ekitike? Here’s why he’s rated so highly by Edwards.
A thread 🧵 🇫🇷
1. A balanced striker
Below are the graphs that show Ekitike and Isak’s stats. As you can see Isak slightly beats him in chances created and goals, but Ekitike is very far ahead in aerial duels and defensive actions. This shows Hugo’s ability as more than just a goal scorer.
2. Looking at the other sought after ST from the bundesliga, you can see that Ekitike has higher percentage of duels, touches in box, NPG, but also chances created. Sesko is better in the air, and a slightly higher conversion rate, but overall Ekitike exceeds in most areas.
3. Now some people are alarmed because Ekitike has a 17.3 conversion rate. Let me show you why that shouldn’t scare you away.
This was Isak’s conversion rate at the same age… Conversion rate usually increases with more experience.
4. Ekitike’s goal stats show he is in the top categories showing proficiency in his scoring abilities, but what this also shows is his passing ability which is extremely high. Compared to other strikers he’s one of the best chance creators as well as a goal scorer.
5. Shots on target
Amongst all U23 strikers Ekitike has the highest percentage of shots on target. Most of these shots as well are being made in difficult areas and tight spaces as he was the team’s main attacking source.
6. Key passes
Amongst all U-23 strikers, Ekitike made the most key passes. Essentially, Ekitike is showing his ability to take on shots and make it difficult for the keeper, but also create goal scoring opportunities for his teammates as needed.
7. This stat shows just how much potential Ekitike truly has. Amongst ALL strikers in the world, Ekitike is 3rd highest in xG and xA only below Mbappe and Lewandowski. With some more experience and fine tuning from Slot, these “expected” stats could soon become reality.
8. Some people are confused and think because of his conversion rate he will be another Darwin Nunez. This is far from the truth. Ekitike’s technical ability, chance creation, and potential are all much higher than Nunez, making him an elite choice as ST.

Why Milos Kerkez is the PERFECT signing as Liverpool’s new LB.
A thread 🧵 🇭🇺
1. Crossing
Kerkez is phenomenal with his crossing ability. He is able to pinpoint the crosses to attackers making run ins, but also make those crosses from VARIOUS attacking positions. When we attack or how we attack will be influenced by his crossing.
2. Attacking ability
The modern game requires your fullbacks to be able to attack and link up well with the wingers. This is one of Kerkez’s best attributes and fits in very well with the vision Slot is wanting to create for Liverpool.
Why Jeremie Frimpong is an AMAZING signing for Liverpool.
A thread 🧵
1. Speed
Frimpong is an EXTREMELY fast player who is great at making quick runs in an attacking position. This speed is also useful to him for tracking back or challenging 50/50 balls. This is something you love to see in a RB.
2. Salah Link up play
Since Frimpong is so fast/versatile he allows Salah to be both a scorer and a playmaker. Frimpong can use his speed to attack the box from a Salah pass, or he can overlap and make a pass into the box for Salah.
One of Gravenberch’s best attributes is his ability to remain calm with the ball. He doesn’t fold under pressure and can always seem to find the right pass. Whether it be forward, sideways, or backwards, he maintains possession and professes play.
Tempo
Sergio Busquets is often referred to as one of the best ever DM’s. The reason for this is because he was exceptional at controlling the pace of the game and keeping the midfield and attack flowing smoothly. This is Grav does very well, which fits Slot’s system perfectly.
