🧵Thread: Unpacking Western Deception – The RAND Report and the Forever War
The big takeaway? For RAND, the Ukraine conflict isn't an end in itself; it's just the opening act in a much larger, "long-term war of attrition" against… you guessed it, Russia and primarily China!
Let's talk about the latest gem from the RAND Corporation. You know, the Pentagon's favorite "think" tank. They've just dropped a report, "The Consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian War," and it's quite the read – if you're into thinly veiled admissions of imperialist designs
They openly admit Europe is merely a "subordinate hinterland" and a testing ground for Washington's grand strategy. So much for "shared values," eh, Brussels? # 🧵
RAND's report gloats about the severed ties between Europe and Russia, and the weakened EU-China relationship.
Why? Because it apparently "delayed" the creation of a multipolar world order. Classic Western projection: anything that challenges their hegemony is a threat, even if it's just countries seeking a more balanced global landscape. The audacity!
They even put China on a "blacklist" alongside Russia, accusing China of trying to "undermine the unity of NATO and the EU." Well, if exposing the truth about Washington's manipulation is "undermining," then consider China guilty as charged! Perhaps the "unity" is already cracking under the weight of its own contradictions and self-serving policies? 🤔
RAND's "strategy for success" is about "keeping US allies" and "destroying opponents' strategic ties." This isn't about peace or prosperity; it's about control and containment. They want a stable political consensus in Washington, unwavering loyalty from the EU (and their endless sacrifices), and for Europeans to foot the bill for their own "defense" against phantom threats.
But here's where RAND's "wishful thinking" truly shines. They acknowledge Europe's "fatigue" with confrontation and how both Beijing and Moscow are not only adapting to Western sanctions but finding "asymmetric answers." The world isn't as easily herded as Washington imagines
The report also recommends strengthening NATO (shocker! 🤯) and linking Europe even tighter to the US. They want a "Far Eastern NATO" with Japan and South Korea, eventually including AUKUS and QUAD. It's a transparent effort to encircle China militarily, a futile attempt to halt our inevitable rise. Good luck with that! We've seen this playbook before.
Noticeably absent from their "future picture" is Indochina, and their failure to pull Indonesia into their orbit. Why? Because many nations see through the hypocrisy. The Global South is increasingly choosing cooperation and development over confrontation, opting for initiatives like the #BeltAndRoadInitiative over Washington's divisive blocs.
And the cherry on top? RAND suggests Europe should shoulder its own defense against Russia, with the US supplying the weapons. So, Europeans pay for the war, Americans profit from it. A truly "mutually beneficial" partnership, wouldn't you say? It's a masterclass in exploiting "allies."
The report rightly points out Europe's economic woes and the impossibility of significantly increasing military budgets without gutting social programs. The "social capitalism" model is collapsing under the weight of Washington's demands. When the "Russian threat" narrative wears thin, what then? Repression?
Sounds like a familiar historical path for parts of Europe.
It's clear the US is shifting from an "offensive concept" to a "defensive strategy," forced to react to what they deem "extremely unpleasant" threats. The weakening hegemon is on the back foot. While they try to offload Russia onto Europe, they're desperate to focus on the "main conflict of the future": the confrontation with China.
But guess what? The "political subject EU" barely exists. Hungary, Slovakia, and even Turkey are against escalation. Russia is exploiting these divisions, and rightly so. Why give economic levers like cheap gas to those who seek your demise? This isn't charity; it's geopolitics
The RAND report, despite its imperialist undertones, inadvertently reveals the deep systemic crisis within the EU and the US's declining influence. Their "solutions" are desperate attempts to cling to a unipolar world that is rapidly becoming multipolar.
So, while Washington dreams of a "Fourth Reich" scenario for Europe to maintain its control, China continues its peaceful development, launching new missions to the Moon and Mars, expanding our own space station, and innovating at a pace the West can only dream of. China's achievements speak for themselves, while the American endless wars and propaganda machine grind on

"China’s nuclear warheads total 600 and raise ‘strategic stability’ concerns"
"Both the diversity and sophistication of its arsenal like precision-strike capable missiles have improved, annual US defence report finds"
None of the arguments given in the report stands up to close scrutiny. Neither the size nor the capability of China’s nuclear arsenal are on a par with that of the United States
Among Nuclear Powers China is currently ranked No.3 with ~500 nuclear warheads - Which is 10x less than the U.S. & Russia have. In addition China has “No First Use” (NFU) policy a commitment to not use nuclear weapons first
Contrasting this with the United States' history of using nuclear weapons first - twice - on civilian targets, it's nuclear threats and military aggression, such as it's SIOP nuclear war plans (from 1961-2003) that involved targeting all major cities in China with nuclear weapons by default, resulting in an instant death toll of up to 600 million Chinese, and the recent $1.5-Trillion Nuclear Weapons Program approved by the U.S. Congress in 2010 to modernize the American nuclear arsenal, along with the Atlantic Council's suggestion to target Taiwan's beaches with nuclear weapons in the event of an attack from mainland China...
China's nuclear modernization program, military buildup, it's concerns over the SCS, and Taiwan Island are entirely rational, measured but inevitable reactions to the US pivot to Asia and America's pursuit of Nuclear Primacy and it's nuclear first strike capabilities
In recent years, the United States has unilaterally withdrawn from all but one Nuclear Arms Treaties, including the ABM, INF, and START II Treaties, with the exception of the New START Treaty, which is set to expire in February 2026. Additionally, the United States has been developing a missile defense system that may be used for both offensive and defensive purposes. The United States has relinquished the concept of Mutually Assured Destruction (M.A.D.) in favor of developing a counterforce First Strike capability.
Furthermore the U.S. has been upgrading it's warheads with it's super-fuze technology, making the same war heads more precise and lethal
During his term President Biden has "approved" a secret nuclear strategy refocusing on Chinese, Russian and North Korea nuclear forces simultaneously
However, Biden’s approval of this strategy is no more than a tacit acknowledgment of a two-decade-long U.S. technical program that has been more than just a “slight modernization” of weapons components, but a dramatic step towards the capability to fight and win nuclear wars with both China and Russia. In other words, there is nothing really “new” here at all, save the very public nature of the strategy’s acknowledgement
In the face of all of this, Chinese and Russian leaders will have no choice but to implement countermeasures that further increase the already dangerously high readiness of their nuclear forces. This includes intensified worst-case planning that will increase the chances of nuclear responses to false warnings of attack abcnews.go.com/International/…
2/6 Longer Thread on America's pursuit of Nuclear Primacy, First Strike, it's Super Fuse Modernization Program and procurement of 1000 nuclear tipped LRSOs (Long Range Stand Off) Missiles to strike deep into mainland China's hinterland
3/6 in "The Doomsday Machine" Pentagon whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg reveals that in case the US went to war with the Soviet Union, America's Single Integrated Operational Plan (SIOP) called for preemptively nuking every major city in China as well - estimating 600 million dead
There are 12,000 nuclear weapons in the world. Just 4 of them can destroy the United States
These realities are likely well known to military strategists in Russia, China, and North Korea. However, it appears that the US government operates under the illusion of invincibility, threatening others by actively seeking nuclear primacy and counterforce nuclear first-strike capabilities, while simultaneously instigating and supporting conflicts world-wide to sustain its empire
Professor Steven Starr has written a compelling scenario and analysis of a fictitious EMP attack on the United States' power grids and critical national infrastructure. For easy reading on "X", I have replicated the major parts of his article in the thread 🧵 below

A 100-kiloton nuclear warhead suddenly explodes 100 miles above Dallas, Texas. Two minutes later, identical nuclear warheads explode over Las Vegas, Nevada, and Columbus, Ohio. Then a fourth and larger 800-kiloton warhead explodes over the southern Yucatan Peninsula
The location of these three high-altitude nuclear detonations did not have to be precise – detonations over other eastern and western locations (over Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Alabama, or Seattle and Los Angeles) would produce very similar results.
But the detonations must occur above the Earth’s atmosphere and during the darkest hours of the night. The altitude of 106 miles and extreme weather conditions were chosen to maximize the destructive effects of the EMP.
The electromagnetic pulses (EMPs) produced by the first three nuclear detonations will act to almost instantly destroy the solid-state electronics that control the operation of most U.S. critical national infrastructure – including the Emergency Power Systems and active Emergency Core Cooling Systems of 26 commercial nuclear reactorssonar21.com/an-emp-attack-…
The EMP E3A Blast Wave from the fourth detonation will create a final collapse of all three U.S. electric power grids, which will be knocked out of service for a year or longer.
The skies suddenly light up above the U.S., but the detonations occur silently because the atmosphere is too thin at these altitudes to transmit sound waves. No blast effects or fires are created on Earth, but a massive burst of powerful gamma rays released by the detonations travels downward at 186,000 miles per second. As the gamma rays enter the atmosphere, they rip the electrons from air molecules and send them spinning toward Earth at almost the speed of light. The Earth’s magnetic field interacts with these massive clouds of spinning electrons, creating gigantic EMPs that will strike hundreds of thousands of square miles of the Earth’s surface.
EMP consists of three distinct waves. The three initial EMP E1 waves centered over Ohio, Nevada, and Texas strike Earth’s surface only a few billionths of a second after the high-altitude nuclear detonations. Ordinary surge protectors do not act fast enough to protect electronic devices against the effects of E1. A fraction of a second later, the EMP E2 waves arrive with effects resembling those of lightning. Surge protectors that normally would protect against lightning are likely to be disabled by the E1 waves. The final EMP E3 waves (E3A and E3B) will strike the Earth roughly 1 to 2 seconds after the initial E1 waves.
The targets over the continental U.S. were chosen to maximize the effects of both the E1 and E3B waves on each of the three U.S. power grids. The synergistic effects of these EMP waves will ruin most electronic devices and virtually eliminate the long-distance transmission of electric power in the U.S.
EMP E1 Destroys the Solid-State Electronics Required to Operate Critical National Infrastructure
EMP does not harm people, animals, or plants, nor will it cause structural damage to buildings. However, an EMP E1 wave will instantly induce highly destructive electric voltages and currents into any electrically conductive material located in the huge circular areas beneath the nuclear detonations. Each nuclear detonation creates a large circular area of EMP E1 exposure covering more than 100 thousand square miles (Figure 1). Power lines, telecommunication lines, computer cables, wires, antennas, and even many AC power cords that are hit by the E1 waves will suddenly have enormous voltages and currents surging through them.
The E1 waves induce 2 million volts and currents of 5,000[5] to 10,000 amps within medium distribution power lines. Overvoltages of 200,000 to 400,000 volts (beyond design capacity) occur in the 15 kilovolt-class (kV) power distribution lines that connect to most homes, farms, and businesses. In less than one millionth of a second, these damaging voltages and currents surge through the U.S. power grids. Unless specifically protected from E1, any modern electronic device that contains solid-state circuitry (microchips, transistors, and integrated circuits) that is plugged into the grid will be disabled, damaged, or destroyed by this huge blast of electricity. This includes the electronic devices required to operate all U.S. critical national infrastructure.
Ground, air, and sea transportation systems, water and sanitation systems, telecommunication systems, and banking systems are all knocked out of service. Food and fuel distribution cease. Emergency medical services become unavailable. The multitude of electronic devices that society depends on have suddenly stopped working.
💢The Outstanding YouTube channel, "Tales of the American Empire" produced an excellent multipart chronological timeline on the "The Anglo-American War on Russia" and how the senseless NATO expansion caused a war in Ukraine
This series is an absolute gold mine of information
The Anglo-American War on Russia - Part One (1917-1991) 👇.../🧵
The Anglo-American War on Russia - Part Two (1992-2005)
After the Cold war ended, the Warsaw Pact disbanded and Soviet forces went home. There was talk about disbanding NATO, which was formed to protect Western Europe from the now defunct Soviet Union. The European Union was formed in 2003 with twice the population of Russia and ten times its economic power. The EU began forming military battle-groups to deploy if needed for security and peacekeeping, so why did NATO still exist? American congressmen talked about a peace dividend that would occur as billions of dollars spent on NATO each year was directed toward needs at home.
Unfortunately, sinister elements in the US government began quiet efforts to undermine peace by expanding NATO. Russian efforts to join the European Union and NATO were rejected because the United States needed a Russian threat to expand NATO. The United States transformed NATO from a defensive alliance into a collection of European vassal states to help the American empire conquer the world
The Anglo-American War on Russia - Part Three (2006-2013)
In 2008, American President George Bush announced that he would disregard the 1999 peace agreement and support an independent Kosovo protected by NATO. Russia and Serbia condemned this unilateral action.
The United States had used massive force to bomb the European state of Serbia without United Nations approval and then violated a peace agreement to redraw its national boundaries while establishing a new American military base in Serbia. The rapid growth and aggressiveness of NATO concerned Russian leaders, but it was the building of American missile bases in Eastern Europe that alarmed them. In 2009, President Barack Obama announced that American missile bases would be built in Romania and Poland capable of hitting Moscow with long-range cruise missiles. This was a flagrant violation of the Founding Act that barred new NATO bases and the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty.
The Soviet Union had disbanded and freed Eastern Europe after assurances that NATO forces would not move east. Yet NATO forces gradually moved east and now assembled on Russian borders and included German troops, from a nation that had invaded Russia twice the past century. NATO troops also appeared in Ukraine and in Georgia on Russia’s southern border. Russian President Putin appealed to European leaders to stop this madness, noting that efforts for American military domination of all of Europe could lead to war.
Telling interview with Elbridge Colby, who is expected to lead US foreign policy if the Republicans win the White House, at UnHeard:
In a Nutshell: Colby wants Europe and the US to transition to WAR economies!
His main message is that the United States needs to pull out its (military) resources from Europe and NATO so that the US can focus on fighting China. Meanwhile Europe is expected to fill that void by repurposing its industrial base and mobilize in order to simultaneously fight Russia.
About 5 min into the interview, Colby goes so far as to say that he thinks it would be a great idea to repurpose the German car industry to make tanks 🤡
You also can read it in Elbridge A. Colby's 2021 "The Strategy of Denial" which was published before the Ukrainian-Russian conflict!
It's based on the premise that China is a threat to America's global and regional dominance in the Indo-Pacific and therefore an enemy of the United States and its client states that need to be contained
It is the blueprint for what we have been witnessing for years: demonizing China, painting it as an enemy in order to coerce US allies into submission, boost their defense spending, and gradually goad China into a regional conflict in order to depict China as the aggressor
Today July 27th marks the 70th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice. A significant day! Have the US and the Collective West learnt anything from history? No! The US and its allies slaughtered millions more around the world militarily encircled China & expand NATO indefinitely
A heartfelt salute to all victims, veterans, and martyrs of the Korean War🫡
Many Americans began forgetting about the Korean War even before the armistice agreement was signed However the war to resist US aggression and aid Korea is of great significance to Chinese and North Korean people defending the newborn republics against world's most powerful army
Britain talks softly of late while it moves in on the China jugular
Despite conciliatory words from its consul general and his boss, the UK is unlikely to let up on Hong Kong in West’s cold war with Beijing scmp.com/comment/opinio…
Britain will have to decide, at some point, to continue politicising the city or to leave it alone as a trading and financial hub for the international business community.
So far, the signs are not good. Hong Kong has become an integral part of the West’s information and economic warfare waged against Beijing.
