🚨Florian Wirtz played his first game for Liverpool in a behind closed door victory over Stoke City. Here are few things we learnt from the superstar debut
A short thread 🧵
Don’t fix what is not broken so they say as it seems Arne Slot is going to play Wirtz in his favorite position of a roaming 10 who receives mostly in the left half space just like he did in his Leverkusen days. He’s so quick in turning and losing his marker in the left half space
A very underrated part of his game is that the fella is so strong in ground duels due to his low center of gravity he has the muscle to out-power his marker. So Liverpool fans don’t worry Wirtz protects the ball so well and he is good with counter pressing as well
He is lighting quick which makes his ball carries so effective and of course scans while running which makes him know the exactly where defenders are positioned and he can hurt them with a killer pass to his teammate not many no 10s possess that trait in the modern game
One things we should expect to see often next season is Wirtz and Salah operating centrally given we now have fullbacks capable of keeping the width. Just like I explained last month in my Florian Wirtz analysis

With Ruben Amorim rumoured to have agreed personal terms in principle with Liverpool there are possibilities that he might be Jurgen Klopp succesor. So lets take a look at how he will setup at Liverpool and the players that will mostly benefit from his system.
A Thread🧵
Goalkeeper: Amorim loves to use a ball playing goalie and make sure they are active in build-up, when using a low build up he wants his goalie to join the CBs and transform into a back 4 which makes them beat press in a 4-2-5 shape. Alisson is good at this as well
Alisson is a bigger upgrade in this department as his distribution skills will enhance going over press if needs be.
Newcastle's failure to sign a proper number 6 will cost them a lot this season especially when they come up against teams that are good at exploiting gaps in between the lines just like Brighton
A tactical thread
A lot of things happened during the build up to the Brighton first goal.
The first thing is the way Brighton broke each of Newcastles line of press, the Magpies shaped in a compact 4-5-1 formation to limit Brighton from progressing the ball in the central areas
As seen in the image the goal is to press Brighton number 6 to avoid him turning his back to goal and find a teammate waiting patiently to receive the ball in between the lines.....
• Liverpool 3-1-6 on ball structure
• How liverpool countered Bournemouth midfield overload
• A wake up call for Trent
• Constant rotation in the Liverpool team
A thread 🧵
Liverpool began the game in their usual 4-3-3 shape, just like we saw in the first game against Chelsea
Liverpool survived an early setback after Bournemouth first goal was ruled offside but few minutes later liverpool designed their own downfall. And here is where I want to point out few things
Man utd struggled vs Wolves. There are many reasons for that, let's discuss
• Man Utd 4-1-3-2 defensive shape created problems for casemiro and mount
• United right hand overload bypassed by wolves
• Man utd 3-1-6 on ball structure
• Wolves attacking the middle
Thread 🔴🟠
Defending in a 4-1-3-2 shape gave casemiro problems everytime wolves had the ball they tried to overload the midfield which I will explain later in this thread. In this phase of play cunha was on the blind side of casemiro he was free in between the line and no one to defend him
Mount was there not aware of what is going on behind him. Seeing Cunha alone Varane had to step in which dragged him out of position,Bruno also tried his best to pressure Cunha but it was too late.
I just rewatched the Arsenal vs City community shield game and here are some interesting things I spotted
> Declan Rice leadership and football intelligence will be crucial for Arsenal this season
>How Mancity bypassed Arsenal press in the build to cole Palmer's goal
Thread
The first thing I spotted was Declan Rice exhibiting the leadership quality I expected of him. The clip shows how he anticipated that Kovacic pass was going to Alvarez and he instructed Saliba to cover the space and arsenal were able to defend the pass. Bravo !!! https://t.co/wBu5VGZVM8twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Despite starting as the #8 he knows exactly when to protect his teammates the clip shows how he stepped in to cover for Saliba allowing him to push forward & give a line breaking pass which resulted in a goalscoring opportunity and partey was also free to join the attack as well https://t.co/bYnluX1ztctwitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Why Moses Caicedo is a better option for Liverpool compared to Romeo Lavia.
•Ability to play as a number 8 (in-possession and out of possession attributes)
•Ability to play as a number 6 and be the anchor of the team (in-possession and out of possession attributes)
[Thread]
Moses Caicedo has showcasd distinct qualities when playing in the roles of both a number 8 and a number 6. As a number 8, Caicedo exhibits remarkable on-ball abilities that greatly influence his team's gameplay.
His ball control, dribbling skills, and passing accuracy allow him to orchestrate attacking plays from the midfield. His vision and decision-making in this role enable him to spot openings, execute intricate passes, and contribute to his team's creative buildup.
