A thread on some feedback I received on the Memphis offer to @Big12Conference but not getting to a vote, so being rejected 1) The amount per school would've been $2.35m per year per institution (included Memphis) for 5-years.
2) Why no? unfortunately the reputation of the athletic department every time they win big it is followed by an NCAA investigation not to mention ongoing NCAA investigations over past 3-4 years.
3) Big 12 looked at Memphis back in 2021 after UT/OU-SEC story broke and of course they added UH, BYU, Cincy, and UCF, being told Memphis may not have even been 5th among the candidates.
4) If Memphis didn't pull their weight for next TV negotiations that was a part of their presentation, are presidents really going to kick out another institution? Process for valuation is also messy.
