It was clear from the start and all the way: a reminder of some Israel statements of intent 🧵

1. "Gaza won’t return to what it was before. We will eliminate everything." Yoav Gallant, 10 October 2023. Image
2. "we will not allow humanitarian assistance in the form of food and medicines from our territory to the Gaza Strip." PM Netanyahu, 18 October 2023 gov.il/en/pages/pm-ne…Image
3. "We shall pulverize every accursed plot of land from which it came, we shall destroy it and the memory of it." Brigadier General David Bar Kalifa, 29 October 2023. Image
4. Commanders and soldiers, November and December 2023: fallow land, scorched earth, no uninvolved civilians, wipe off the seed of amalek. Image
5. "There are no half measures. Rafah, Deir al-Balah, Nuseirat – total annihilation. 'You will blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven' – there's no place under heaven." Bezalel Smotrich, 29 April 2024. Image
6. "Israel's policy is clear: no humanitarian aid will enter Gaza, and blocking this aid is one of the main pressure levers preventing Hamas from using it as a tool with the population." Israel Katz, April 2025 Image
7. "Gaza will be entirely destroyed... We are conquering, cleansing, and remaining in Gaza until Hamas is destroyed." Smotrich, May 2025. Image
8. Israel Katz 7 July 2025 Image
9. How is it going:

"With this latest order, the area under displacement orders or within militarized zones has risen to 87.8%, leaving 2.1 million civilians squeezed into a fragmented 12% of Strip, where essential services have collapsed" @ochaopt ochaopt.org/content/gaza-o…
10. "The new order cuts through Deir al Balah all the way to the Med. Sea, further splintering the Strip. It will limit the ability of the UN & our partners to move safely and effectively within Gaza, choking humanitarian access when it is needed most."

1. Your regular reminder that Israel's 1967 aggression against Egypt and Syria, leading to occupation of Palestinian and Arab lands, was also fraudulently justified as a "preemptive" or "preventive" war:
2. The 1967 war was based on a fabrication that Egypt was planning to attack, when Israel and the US knew that was untrue. 1967 was not a defensive war, nor "anticipatory defense". It was pure aggression. Read Professor John Quigley's important and detailed book. Image
3. The @CIJ_ICJ in its 19 July 2024 Advisory Opinion ruling was silent on the illegality of the use of force by Israel in 1967 war itself. But no one reads Tom Segev's "1967" book would reach any other conclusion than it was unlawful: Image

1. Former Sunday Times journalist Michael Prescott produced a memo on the BBC that rehashes debunked pro-Israeli claims. It is surprising therefore that the BBC is taking it seriously.

Four comments on Prescott's memo: 🧵
2. FIRST, Prescott rehashes the debunked pro-Israeli claim that in mid 2024 the UN lowered or halved the number of women and children killed in Gaza. Image
3. Yet as the UN confirmed and media outlets like Newsweek and Al-Jazeera double-checked. This was simply incorrect and a misrepresentation. Here is Aljazeera report of UN comments: aljazeera.com/news/2024/5/14…Image

"We're interested in emptying Gaza first"

"In the 1960s/1970s, left-wing governments of Israel proposed plans to 'thin' the population of the Gaza Strip. A perusal of the minutes of meetings reveals that their ideas don't differ much from those of today's far-right government" Image

Israeli universities seem surprised by the increasing global boycott of Israeli academia. Here is a brief list that shows how embedded Israeli academia in the military industrial complex: 🧵

A new report by the UN Special Committee:

1. "Given the developments during the reporting period, the Special Committee is ever more convinced that the world is witnessing genocide in Gaza" ohchr.org/en/documents/t…
2. "Committee is shocked by the extent of land confiscation, targeting of communities, separation of families, demolitions, forced evictions, killings, physical abuse and other tactics employed... to push Palestinian communities from their lands and homes" in the West Bank Image
3. "Special Committee has received disturbing briefings on the systematic and widespread perpetration of sexual and gender-based violence, torture and other forms of cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment inflicted on Palestinian detainees by Israeli military and security forces" Image

1. The Trump - Netanyahu plan should be opposed and rejected. It offers the Palestinians a choice between colonial apartheid and occupation, at best, and gives a cover for the continuation of the genocide, at worst. 1/24 🧵
2. This is a unilateral, one-sided plan, that is delivered as an ultimatum. Therefore it would effectively justify the continuation and completion of the genocide. Either because Hamas will be cornered to reject it or because Israel will violate it.
3. Israel has a track record of violating agreements (no withdrawal from Lebanon after Nov 2024 agreement; violating cease fire agreement in March 2025; no lifting of blockade despite release of a hostage in May 2025).
