🧵A thread on the deadly love story that shook California.

I. Maya Millete — Maya Millete was a 39-year-old mom of three and a successful Navy contractor in Chula Vista. On Jan 7, 2021, she vanished the same day she scheduled a call with a divorce lawyer.
She hasn’t been seen since.

II. Maya Millete — THE HUSBAND
Her husband, Larry Millete, told police he had no idea where she went. But detectives quickly noticed red flags.
That night, he was seen loading his car and disappeared for 11 hours with no solid alibi.

III. Maya Millete — BLACK MAGIC
Texts and emails revealed Larry had been contacting online “spellcasters” to cast black magic on Maya.
First to make her love him again. Then to injure her so she couldn’t leave the house.

IV. Maya Millete — THREATS
He also allegedly threatened Maya’s suspected boyfriend and considered hiring someone to hurt him.
Investigators say this was no outburst, it was a calculated obsession.

V. Maya Millete — NO BODY
Police never found Maya’s body. But they arrested Larry in October 2021 and charged him with murder.
They say the case is strong even without a body thanks to:
• Digital footprints
• GPS data
• His own disturbing messages

VI. Maya Millete — LEGACY
Since then, Maya’s family has been fighting to raise her kids.
In August 2024, they finally won custody. The children now live with Maya’s sister.
But the trial keeps getting delayed.

Larry Millete’s murder trial is now scheduled for January 2026.
Prosecutors will argue this was a controlling husband who couldn’t handle rejection.

Larry still says he’s innocent.
