Between 2019–2023, ICE transferred over 448,000 unaccompanied children to HHS.
But @DHSOIG found that over 31,000 had missing or incorrect sponsor addresses — including some that didn’t even exist.

In FY2021 alone, 49,000 children did not receive a Notice to Appear (NTA) in immigration court.
This delayed their legal process and eliminated the only DHS check-in — the only chance to verify if the child was safe after release.

Without proper tracking, ICE couldn’t ensure they were safe or even located.
