THREAD 🧵 Why petrol in plastic containers is banned and Odisha govt’s move matters
Since last week the Odisha government enforced its ban on selling petrol or diesel in plastic containers This is not a new rule but a long standing safety measure under the Parliament act called the Petroleum Act of 1934 and its associated rules of 2002.
The law explains that petroleum includes any fuel that gives off flammable vapour and classifies it into three categories based on how easily it ignites
• Class A fuels like petrol are the most flammable : they ignite at very low temperatures
Under this act storing or transporting petroleum must follow strict rules
One of them is that dangerous fuels must be kept in approved metal cans or strong branded plastic jerry cans, not in regular water bottles or flimsy single use plastic.
Selling petrol in plastic containers causes serious safety risks
• Plastic bottles are prone to leakage and evaporation of petrol vapour
• Vapour is invisible and can catch fire from a tiny spark
• In hot weather plastic can even deform and burst
The result can be sudden and explosive danger.
Sadly India has seen real accidents from this practice.
In Odisha there were two recent incidents where petrol carried in plastic containers contributed to fire tragedies. That prompted the state government to act immediately.
Some critics say this affects farmers or people in remote villages who transport fuel in small bottles
But the law already allows up to 30 litres of petrol in securely sealed glass or metal containers without needing a licence
Buying a proper jerry can is safer and often cheaper over time than dealing with risk to life and property
Almost every state in India follows this. Petrol pumps in Delhi, Maharashtra, Kerala, etc. also don’t allow filling in plastic bottles.
So this isn’t a “new Odisha rule”. It’s a national safety standard.
✅ If you need to transport fuel
Use a BIS approved jerry can, or a strong metal container with proper seal
Make sure it is labeled “Petrol” or “Motor Spirit” as required by law.
✅ If you are a consumer
Spread awareness that this is a life saving measure
Help friends or neighbours switch to safer containers
Support sensible rules that prevent accidents.
✅ If you care about safety,
✅ If you want to avoid accidents,
✅ If you believe in good governance —
support the enforcement of this sensible rule.
Plastic and petrol just don’t mix.
Stay safe. Be responsible.
Sad to see the so-called educated class opposing a life-saving rule.
Instead of spreading safety awareness, they are creating noise.
When the educated mislead the public, who will show the way?
This is not politics. This is about safety. Grow up.

Modi vs the so called Iron Lady of Congress
People are comparing PM Modi with their so-called “Iron Lady”, who let 54 Indian soldiers rot in Pakistani jails while feeding biryani to 93,000 surrendered Pakistani troops.
Let’s break down how flawed this comparison really is.
#IndiaPakistanWar2025
In 1971, Indian Armed Forces achieved a historic victory.
Pakistan surrendered.
93,000 of their soldiers laid down arms. It was a once-in-a-century moment to reshape history.
#ceasefire
These Pakistani POWs could have been used to bring back our captured soldiers, push for Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), and demand justice for their war crimes.
But none of that happened.#IndianArmy

When you are asked about your mother tongue, please refer to "Sanskrit" as one of the languages you know.
1/n
Although not everyone can speak Sanskrit but we certainly use it every day in our prayers, chants, verses and all the rituals and worship.
According to the last census, the number of Sanskrit-speaking people in the whole country was only 2,000.

While the number of people speaking Arabic and Persian is very high. They also receive funding for the development of those languages. If the Sanskrit language is declared an 'extinct' language, then our ancient scriptures,Vedas,Puranas etc. will no longer be printed.

Hello @thevirdas, I Come from India where people made amazing Architecture before 800-900 years.
They too have Time calculating machine by using Sun and its Shadow. (see in next tweets)
In photo - Konark Sun Temple.
It was built in around 1250 A.D.. For the uninitiated the sundial has 8 major spokes that divide 24 hours into 8 equal parts, which means that the time between two major spokes is 3 hours.
There are 8 minor spokes as well. Each minor spoke runs exactly in the middle of 2 major spokes. This means that the minor spoke divides the 3 hours in half, so the time between a major spoke and a minor spoke is an hour and half or 90 minutes.

"The Worst of all was the plight of women. Several of them had to watch their husbands being murdered and then be forcibly converted and married to some of those responsible for their death. It was not despair, nothing so active as that.
