Instead: 1) Aim for a 400-600 calorie deficit/day. 2) 0.5-0.75 kg loss/week 3) Faster only if you have a lot of fat & expert guidance
Should you ditch sugar, rice & roti altogether?
No!
Science says:
1) Weight loss happens when you eat fewer calories than you burn (calorie deficit).
2) Rice, roti, or sugar aren’t “evil.”
You can include them in moderation & still lose fat.
What should you do instead?
1) Eat mostly whole foods 2) Balance your plate with carbs, protein & healthy fats 3) Watch your portions 4) Create a moderate calorie deficit you can stick to
What about green tea or fat-burner coffee?
Studies show:
1) Green tea & coffee may help a tiny bit.
2) At best, 1-2 kg extra over 3-6 months.
Not magic. Please don’t rely on them.
Instead, focus on things that work:
1) Use a good protein source (whey or plant‑based)
2) Creatine can help with strength (optional)
3) Caffeine as pre‑workout
But these are just add ons.
Prioritize protein
1) Aim for about 1.6 g protein per kg of your goal body weight
2) Helps preserve muscle
3) Keeps you full
4) Supports recovery
Add more veggies & fruits
1) Low in calories
2) High in fiber & vitamins
3) Keep you full longer
4) Support overall health
Add resistance training
1) Helps build & keep muscle while losing fat
2) Makes you stronger & leaner
3-4 per week is more than enough
And don’t forget walking.
Studies show daily walking burns extra calories & helps with fat loss.
Even 8-10k steps/day makes a big difference over time.
Slow & steady > crash diets.

Your mother is scared to lift dumbbells? Tell her how easily she lifts that 2-3kg vegetable bag. She can easily lift a 5kg dumbbell
We have coached more than 200 parents over the last few months, and here are some key findings that may help you support your parents in becoming healthier and stronger as they age.
Thread.
1. Parents are stubborn, they are stubborn not as a character but because of following the same old routine for years and years. Imagine asking a person who has eaten the same food item regularly for 40 years to change it. They won't.
Even you won't.
Don't expect them to bring drastic changes. But bring 2% change a day. Like simply asking them to eat extra yogurt with their regular meal or 5 squats only instead of full fledged 30min workout.
2. We think they get scared after seeing blood reports, but that is not the truth. They tend to ignore it. You also ignore your high cholesterol levels, why do you think your parents would not? It is a simple human behaviour. Don't try to scare them with blood reports.
It took me several years to cross 100k here. I joined X long back in 2009. I've seen the platform evolve, but now I'm fairly confident about what works here and what doesn't.
If you want to grow on X, this thread can help you. Do save it.
Before starting the thread, I want to make one thing understand: growth will come only when you are not entitled to it. The day you drop your expectation of how a platform should treat you, you will start growing. Your growth will stall the day you start blaming the platform for its algorithm, metrics, partiality, etc. You have to evolve with the platform, platform won't evolve with you.
1. Be very clear with your 'image' and the kind of impression you want to leave in people's minds with these tiny words. I built the majority of my audience with the image of that 'protein fitness guy'.
Image is important because that's how people will remember you outside this platform. Which is very important for your growth. And soon you will become their 'go to' guy for any sort of doubt related to the topic you post about the most.
Last year, during Navratri, 30-50 people died while playing Garba due to sudden heart attacks. You can check the news. And no, it didn't happen because of vaccines.
The sad part? Many of these deaths were preventable.
Here’s why it happens & how you can protect yourself.
Heart disease doesn’t start in your 40s or 50s.
Plaque (fat + cholesterol + inflammation) begins forming in arteries from childhood.
It grows silently for decades without symptoms, until one day, the arteries clog or rupture
The problem:
High LDL cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, and obesity → all increase plaque buildup.
But people ignore prevention because:
You don’t “feel” high LDL.
You don’t “feel” high BP.
These killers are silent until it’s too late.
My kid turned 1 today. These 365 days have been a roller coaster as a parent. First time. New experience.
Some tweets on how parenthood has changed me as a person and why one should consider becoming a parent at some point in their lifetime. Read it whenever you have time or save it for later. This thread is not for 21-year-olds. You guys can skip it.
Being a parent gives you a power you may not have been aware of. From the first day of their birth, you will start feeling that you have become so powerful that you can fight anyone and any situation to protect your kid.
There have been instances in my life where I would have had a severe anxiety attack or a nervous breakdown, but when you have the responsibility of a kid, you know you will find a way out of any situation.
Every cry of your kid will add something to you, like another brick in your building. You will start feeling like working 24/7 to avoid that cry and to provide your kid with everything possible. My dad had to sell his car and factory when his business failed. Now I understand why he didn't run away or take his life, because he couldn’t see me crying. He sold products door-to-door on his cycle to provide for me; today, I am doing the same to provide for my child. Whatever I can do best. The day you become a father you will start understanding your father.
