But then a bitter truth struck him: “If people aren’t infected, they won’t need a cure. And if there’s no sickness… there’s no money.”

That realization sparked a terrifying idea in Shadow’s mind. “What if I could decide when people get infected?” he mused. “They’ll beg for vaccines. And I will offer the cure, at a price.”

He knew it wouldn’t be easy. It could take decades. But for a man like Shadow, time was an investment.

One day, Mr. Shadow journeyed into the mountains with his most trusted investors. For 40 days & 40 nights, they fasted,meditated, and plotted. There, they claimed to have received a revelation, a divine inspiration: “He who controls what enters the stomach, controls the people.”

That revelation birthed a new strategy, agriculture. Shadow set his eyes on Africa. Not just any country, but Wakanta, a nation of fertile lands, diverse ethnic groups, and political instability, worsened by politicians who fueled disunity among the youths.

A divided people, Shadow believed, were easier to conquer. He saw his opportunity.

A secret meeting was organized at the prestigious Primus Hotel, led by Mr. Shadow himself. Present were leaders of major pharmaceutical companies, top investors, and a few political lobbyists.

At the heart of the gathering was a tall, bearded biotechnologist named Dr. Tzaddy, known for his revolutionary biotech firm. Shadow, eyes gleaming, leaned forward and asked: “How can we take control of Wakanta’s food system?” The room fell into a heavy silence.

The ticking wall clock echoed like a drumbeat. All eyes turned to Tzaddy. With a sinister calm, he replied, “Through Genetically Modified Organisms( GMOs).” He continued:

“With GMO seeds, we’ll make Wakanta dependent on us. We’ll control their food from seed to harvest. The seeds won’t be reusable they’ll need us every season. Eventually, we can even decide who eats and who doesn’t.” The room froze.

Then he dropped the real bombshell: “We can also control their health through these same seeds. We can embed diseases into their food, and when they fall sick, we’ll provide the cure and make more money.”

Mr. Viper, a short, angry man with deep wrinkles and a loud voice, stood up in outrage. “Stop your bedtime fantasy and speak like a scientist! We are here for real solutions, not fairy tales!”

But Mr. Shadow, visibly captivated, raised a hand and calmly ordered, “Sit down, Viper. Let the genius speak.”

Dr. Tzaddy grinned and began his demonstration. He explained how he had previously worked with a bacterium called Bacillus thuringiensis a natural organism that produces a protein toxic to pests.

The gene responsible for producing this protein, the Bt gene, was isolated and inserted into a tomato’s DNA. The result was a tomato that could kill pests by itself: no need for pesticides. It grew fast, large, and shiny.

Beautiful, tempting, and deadly, but only to insects so far. “But we didn’t stop there,” Tzaddy said. He detailed how they also modified the tomato’s DNA to grow unnaturally large, resistant to harsh climates, and most importantly, genetically sterile.

Farmers could no longer replant its seeds. They had to return to the supplier every single time. Then came the real twist:

“We’ve made sure this GMO tomato suppresses the growth of Wakanta’s local crops. Over time, their indigenous food system will collapse, and ours will dominate.” Mr. Shadow was so pleased he stood and hugged Dr. Tzaddy.

He then asked a terrifying question: “What if we could use this technology to make them sick and force them to buy our vaccines?”

Everyone leaned in. Shadow’s eyes sparkled. The room’s atmosphere was electric. Tzaddy took them to his private biotech lab.

They were greeted by a beautiful, statuesque lab assistant with a sharp nose and hourglass figure. Mr. Shadow was momentarily distracted but quickly returned his focus.

In the lab, Tzaddy began his next experiment. He retrieved a strain of the cholera-causing bacterium, known to cause severe diarrhea when ingested. This bacterium produces a toxin, and that toxin is controlled by a gene.

He removed the cholera toxin gene and inserted it into the DNA of a tomato plant. Weeks later, the plant bore beautiful, shiny red tomatoes. They were luscious, large, and enticing.

Mr. Shadow reached out to pluck one, but Tzaddy stopped him with a smirk. “Not yet. Let the rats taste first.” They placed the tomatoes in a cage with test rats. The rats devoured them joyfully. Minutes later, they began showing signs of illness: diarrhea, weakness, dehydration.

The room erupted in applause. Mr. Shadow was so pleased he hugged Dr. Tzaddy again, he said "My dream now a result".

Mr. Shadow returned to Wakanta with a mouthwatering proposal: A $22 billion investment in GMO agriculture. The media celebrated. Politicians danced. Farmers cheered. But none saw the real agenda.

Shadow discreetly distributed $2 billion in bribes, and Wakanta's leaders quickly approved the project. Local farmers had no choice but to adopt the GMO seeds, the yields were higher, the fruits were beautiful, the profits came fast.

A decade later, GMO crops dominated Wakanta. The people could no longer plant their traditional crops. The soil no longer supported native seeds. Everything now came from Shadow’s company. And Shadow now set the price.

They released a new tomato strain, this time targeting Wakanta’s northern region, where the population was highest. This tomato did more than just cause illness, it also made men impotent. The people ate.

And then they suffered. Breathing problems. Stomach cramps. Widespread infertility. Children dying. Hospitals collapsing. The people cried out. And just as planned, Shadow returned with a miracle vaccine, sold at a premium. The people paid.

Men in the North couldn’t father children. Women watched their babies wither. A silent war had begun, not with bullets or bombs, but with tomatoes and seeds. And it was already too late.

Now, Wakanta is enslaved to a seed they cannot reject. But the rest of Africa was watching. Other countries began banning edible GMO imports.

They allowed only non-edible GMO crops like cotton. They tightened their laws. They took precautionary measures.

Now, Wakanta searches for hope, a cure, a savior, a way to take back her food, her health, her future. Only one man may hold the key to Wakanta’s healing. And this time, it won’t be Mr. Shadow.
