1/🧵
Bongino posted this tweet with a link to a news article titled, "2016 intel report said Kremlin preferred GOP over Dems — but actual history tells a different story."
Based on that pairing, it appears his comments are referencing the 2016 Russia interference topic.
2/ In his capacity as Dep Dir, FBI he is strongly implying there are ongoing investigations related to that issue - as evidenced by his statement:
“But what I have learned in the course of our properly predicated and necessary investigations into these aforementioned matters…”
3/ When he adds, “What I have learned...has shocked me down to my core,” and “We cannot run a Republic like this. I’ll never be the same after learning what I’ve learned,” - especially in conjunction with the article - he’s not just previewing a concern.
4/ He’s heavily implying that the investigations he describes as “properly predicated” have already uncovered wrongdoing, and that the individuals being investigated are, in his view, culpable.
5/ The investigations, however, are still ongoing. No indictments or court proceedings have concluded.
6/ That makes it all the more egregious — because he is effectively pre-judging the outcome of a live investigation and suggesting guilt before any legal due process has occurred.
7/ This is not just inappropriate — it’s abhorrent behavior for the Deputy Director of the FBI, actively involved in the very investigation he’s now publicly commenting on.
Wow. Just… wow.
