The past two weeks have seen @POTUS achieve historic progress in our nation’s relationship with Japan, South Korea, and China.

These developments have represented a significant success in our efforts to rebalance global trade, and towards enacting President Trump’s America First trade agenda across the world. 1/6Image
I was glad to travel to Japan on behalf of the @WhiteHouse, following which President Trump secured a historic trade deal between the United States and Japan.

The ties between our nations are stronger than ever, and I am grateful for @USAmbJapan George Glass’ hospitality at @expo2025_japan’s @USA_Pavilion_ 2/6
Our discussions with South Korea have also resulted in an equally important trade deal, and I was glad to join @POTUS, @SecRubio, @howardlutnick, and @USTradeRep to get this critical achievement done.

This landmark deal is unlocking billions of dollars’ worth of benefits for our nation. 3/6
Additionally, this week’s negotiations in Stockholm have advanced our talks with China, and I believe that we have the makings of a deal that will benefit both of our great nations.

Thanks to the powerful bond between @POTUS and President Xi, I am optimistic about the path forward. 4/6Image

I am grateful for @SwedishPM’s hospitality during my time in Stockholm, and I was glad to join @USTradeRep in a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Kristersson during my time in Sweden.

The relationship between our nations is mutually beneficial, and I look forward to our future cooperation across other issues of mutual concern. 5/6
Finally, I would like to thank @USTradeRep for his partnership and friendship throughout this process — and for sharing a bite at @mcdse with me while in Sweden.

As @POTUS once said about @McDonalds’ fries, “It requires great expertise, actually, to do it right and to do it fast.”

The same applies to trade deals, and Ambassador Greer brings both great expertise and speed to our negotiations. 6/6Image

Today, former Treasury Secretary @LHSummers showed why he was forced to step down as president of @Harvard: a lack of humanity and judgment. 1/4
In a shockingly callous interview on @ThisWeekABC, Professor Summers proclaimed that the One Big, Beautiful Bill will cause “...2,000 days of death like we’ve seen in Texas this weekend.”

Using the horrifying situation in Texas for cheap political gain is unfathomable. 2/4
He has turned a human tragedy into a political cudgel. Such remarks are feckless and deeply offensive.

Professor Summers should immediately issue a public apology for his toxic language. 3/4

After months of productive dialogue with other countries on the OECD Global Tax Deal, we will announce a joint understanding among G7 countries that defends American interests. President Trump paved the way for this historic achievement. On January 20, the President issued two Executive Orders instructing Treasury to defend U.S. tax sovereignty, and as a result of President Trump’s leadership we now have a great deal for the American people.
OECD Pillar 2 taxes will not apply to U.S. companies, and we will work cooperatively to implement this agreement across the OECD-G20 Inclusive Framework in coming weeks and months. I want to thank my G7 counterparts for their partnership and collaboration towards achieving this historic outcome.
Based on this progress and understanding, I have asked the Senate and House to remove the Section 899 protective measure from consideration in the One, Big, Beautiful Bill. This understanding with our G7 partners provides greater certainty and stability for the global economy and will enhance growth and investment in the United States and beyond. I thank Senator Crapo and Chairman Smith for their leadership that made this day possible.

We cannot allow the American people to suffer the biggest tax hike in history next year.

Getting @POTUS’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” passed is one of our top priorities. And it’s an integral component of President Trump’s bold economic agenda to drive long-term growth.

The American people deserve to know how this bill will benefit them directly. Thread.
WORKING FAMILIES

✔️No federal income tax on tips or overtime pay.

✔️Bigger standard deduction for every household.

✔️Extra senior deduction so retirees keep more of what they’ve earned.

These dollars stay in your pocket, not Washington’s.
SMALL BUSINESS & ENTREPRENEURS

✔️Keeps, and increases, the small business pass through deduction.

✔️Immediate expensing for R&D so innovators can scale faster.

Main Street, not Wall Street, drives the next wave of jobs.

With Tax Day upon us, we are doubly focused on making the IRS work better for American families, at a better price.

To that end, we are striving for excellence in collections, privacy, and customer service.

The agency has been in a “modernization” program for decades. But this year, we are finally implementing a tech-forward, efficient approach made possible by the amazing talent we already have in the building.

Here’s how the IRS under the Trump Administration is serving you:
The IRS has successfully saved $2 billion without any operational disruptions by eliminating wasteful contracts, such as auto-renewed licenses unused for years.
The IRS has removed non-technical people from technical leadership roles in engineering and replaced them with experienced engineers.

Going forward, skilled engineers will drive technical decisions. The IRS has its fair share of software talent. These men and women, who have long served the IRS, need to be empowered to make decisions.
