Tomorrow is the 11th anniversary of Yazidi Genocide. 🧵thread Image
August 3rd, 2014.
ISIS attacked our people in Shingal/Iraq just because of our religion.
Thousands were killed.

This is not history. This is still our pain.
Please read, share, and remember. Image
Men and boys were executed in cold blood.
Women and girls were kidnapped.
Mass graves still cover the land.
Many bodies were never found.

Many families still don’t know where their loved ones are. Image
Over 6,000 Yazidi women and children were taken as sex slaves.
They were sold in markets like animals.
Raped, beaten, and brainwashed.
Some victims were just little girls — 8, 9, 10 years old.
This was not war. This was pure evil. Image
Those who returned found nothing.
Homes were burned, villages destroyed.
There is still no electricity, no clean water, no hospitals in Sinjar.
No protection. No real government.
Our homeland is broken. Image
Over 200,000 Yazidis are still living in displacement camps.
Most live in tents — boiling in summer, freezing in winter.
Some children have spent their whole lives there.
They’ve never known what “home” means. Image
Thousands are still missing.
Some may still be in captivity.
Others are in unmarked graves.
Mothers and fathers wake up every day not knowing if their child is alive or dead.
This pain never ends. Image
Where is justice?
Most ISIS leaders who planned the genocide were never punished.
The world moved on.
But we’re still here — broken, grieving, and unheard.
Shingal is still unsafe.
Many armed groups control it.
There is no real peace.
Yazidis are afraid to return.
How can we rebuild when we live in fear?
The Yazidi people have survived 74 genocides.
We are not weak — but we are tired.
We deserve more than survival.
We deserve justice, dignity, and a future without fear.
To my international friends:
Please don’t stay silent.
Please speak up for the Yazidis.
Share our story.
Let the world know:
We remember. We bleed. We are still waiting.

One of the most striking similarities between Hinduism and Yezidism can be found between their respective oil lamps.

Thread 🧵 Similarities. Image
Both Hindus and Yezidis share a belief in human reincarnation and transmigration

(the belief that a person's soul continues to exist after death and is reborn in another body). Image
Usually, Hindus and Yazidis pray facing towards the Sun because the Sun is the major cause of life on earth.
Both also have special prayers connected with the natural elements and phenomena like the moon, stars, sun, water, etc. Image

ISIS monsters laugh and haggle about buying enslaved girls (some as young as 15) in a chilling video. Young girls with blue & green eyes are worth more on “slave-market day,” they say.

“If she is 15 years old, I have to check her, check her teeth,”

I will sell her for a Glock”
Those monsters enslaved and abused “hundreds, if not thousands” of Yazidi women and children.

in its English-language magazine, the Islamic State claimed it had a right to do so under Sharia law.

a young boy is asked whether he wants a “Yazidi slave.” When the child nods, the older men surrounding him laughingly inquire, "Can you handle her?"
