What do I do after the scans?

This is the most important step β€” where the shortlist turns into focused conviction. 🎯

1/n
After running the EPS, Relative Strength, and IPO scans (see previous thread), I’m usually left with around 250 names in a healthy market.

I narrow it down further by focusing on:
🧩 Market Cap between β‚Ή500 Cr and β‚Ή20,000 Cr
πŸ“Œ But I give maximum weight to β‚Ή500 – β‚Ή10,000 Cr stocks β€” the sweet spot for explosive moves.

This usually trims the list down to 120–140 names.
My next filter is chart-based:

Is the stock buyable right now?
What do I mean by buyable?
I look for setups like:
βœ… Long base breakouts
βœ… Flags / Pennants
βœ… Post-Earnings Drift (explained beautifully in Trade Like a Stock Market Wizard)

If the chart shows one of these, I move it to my Focused List.
This alone takes me down to <10–12 names.Image

Then comes something I call Trigger Hunting β€” optional for short-term traders, but critical for trend followers like me.

Here’s what I do:

I check how many of these 10–12 names belong to the same industry group.
If I find 3–4 names from one sector, I know something’s brewing there.
That group goes to the top of my focus.

for example - Agrochemicals, Pharma & Healthcare, Auto Ancillaries, Specialty Chemicals, etc
To compare names within the group:
πŸ”Ή I visit their websites
πŸ”Ή Glance through recent investor presentations
πŸ”Ή Do a quick numbers scan on @screener_in

This gives me 4–6 high-priority, actionable setups for the next trading day.
Tight, focused, high-conviction list.
Having done this process daily for 2–3 years, it now only takes me a few hours.

But if you're new β€” take your time.
Over weeks, you’ll develop a rhythm.

How do I shortlist stocks from the entire universe?
It starts with scanning, but the real edge lies in weeding out. πŸ”βœ‚οΈ

I begin by running three primary scans:
1️⃣ Relative Strength Scan
2️⃣ EPS Scan
3️⃣ IPO Scan

No matter which platform you use, these are my common filters: Image
Relative Strength Scan Criteria

RS Rating > 80

Price within 20% of 52-week high

Price > β‚Ή20

Above 200-DMA

Avg. β‚Ή volume (30-day) > β‚Ή5 Cr

Market Cap > β‚Ή500 CrImage
πŸ’° EPS Scan Criteria
EPS Rating > 80

Price > β‚Ή20

Market Cap > β‚Ή500 Cr

Then I split EPS stocks into three market cap baskets:

Small: β‚Ή500 Cr – β‚Ή10,000 Cr
Medium: β‚Ή10,000 Cr – β‚Ή20,000 Cr
Large: β‚Ή20,000 Cr+

⚑️ I believe small & mid caps can deliver faster moves compared to large caps.Image
