Guardian angels, you’ve heard of them, maybe you even prayed to yours as a child.
But who are Guardian Angels really? And what does the Church say about them?
Why you should have a devotion to your Guardian Angel - a 🧵✝️
Guardian Angels are real, personal spiritual beings assigned by God to protect and guide each human soul.
This isn’t just a sweet idea, it’s a dogma of the Catholic faith, firmly grounded in Scripture and Tradition.
>Psalm 91,11: "He will give his angels charge over you."
>Matthew 18,10: "Their angels always behold the face of my Father."
>Acts 12,15: "It is his angel!"
Angels are messengers, guardians, and protectors, always doing God's will.
What do Guardian Angels do?
>Protect us from spiritual and physical harm
>Inspire good thoughts
>Warn us against sin
>Help us in prayer
>Guide us toward our eternal salvation
They aren’t passive. They are warriors fighting for your soul.
What does the Church teach?
>Every human being has a Guardian Angel
>The angel is assigned from conception
>They accompany us until death, and may accompany our soul to judgment
>They respect our free will but try to lead us to God
Guardian Angels are distinct personal beings, not vague forces.
They have:
>Intellect and will
>Perfect obedience to God
>No physical bodies
>Unfailing love for the soul they guard
They are higher creatures than us, but they serve us in humility.
Devotion to your Guardian Angel is encouraged.
The Church teaches us to:
>Thank them
>Speak to them
>Ask their protection
>Follow their inspirations
Simple daily prayer:
"Ángele Dei, qui custos es mei, me, tibi commissum pietate superna, (Hodie, Hac nocte) illúmina, custódi, rege et gubérna. Amen"
But beware: Angels never replace Christ or the sacraments. They lead us to God, not to themselves.
And false devotion or attempts to control angels (through occult practices) are grave errors.
You should also NOT name your guardian angel, he already has a name given by God that you do not need to know.
Today, most people ignore their Guardian Angel.
But your angel is constantly fighting for you in unseen battles.
Don’t face this world alone. Ask for your angel's help in your struggles, temptations, and decisions.
Saints lived in deep friendship with their Guardian Angels.
Saint Padre Pio spoke openly with his angel and even sent his on angel on little missions.
Father Alessio Parente, who was assigned to help a fragile monk, frequently overslept. Padre Pio, knowing of this habit, instructed his guardian angel to rouse Father Parente when he was late.
This resulted in Father Parente hearing a voice and knocking at his door, prompting him to wake up and discover he was indeed late, without seeing anyone else present.
Your Guardian Angel isn't distant. They’re ready to help, even in practical things.
Your Guardian Angel has one mission:
To help you reach Heaven.
Their joy is your salvation.
Their sadness is your sin.
Talk to them. Walk with them. Fight alongside them.
Christ entrusted you to an angel. Trust Him back.

Nagasaki, 1945. An atomic bomb exploded over the city. Tens of thousands died.
But just outside the blast zone, a Franciscan monastery stood untouched. The friars inside? Safe.
Why? St. Maximilian Kolbe chose the site, 14 years earlier.
The miracle of Nagasaki - a 🧵✝️
In the early 1930s, Fr. Maximilian Kolbe arrived in Japan as a missionary.
He was already known for his bold faith and love for the Blessed Virgin Mary.
When he reached Nagasaki, the local Catholics expected him to build the monastery in the heart of the city.
But he refused.
St. Maximilian Kolbe was extremely devoted to Our Lady. He specifically promoted devotion and consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
He was an ardent devotee of the Rosary and strongly encouraged its daily recitation.
Moreover, he understood the terrible evils wrought by freemasonry, atheism, and the errors of Russia.
Kolbe chose a remote hillside in Hongochi, on the outskirts of town.
Why? No one understood it at the time.
Kolbe had chosen a plot of land in the suburb of Hongouchi that sat behind a mountain and faced away from Nagasaki.
While many originally criticized this placement, it was this strange positioning that would protect the monastery and its missionaries later on.
Seibo no Kishi would consist of a chapel and wooden house, a large hall for meetings and classes, and a workshop to hold printing equipment. Additionally, Kolbe would build a nearby grotto completed with the placement of a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes on May 1, 1932.
He doesn’t mind your regrets.
He fears your repentance.
He doesn’t care if you cry.
He panics when you confess. Why? Because in that moment he loses you.
Why you should go to Confession - a 🧵✝️
How are sins forgiven?
Only God can forgive sins. But He established means to apply that mercy to our souls.
The ordinary way? The Sacrament of Penance.
It’s not man-made. It’s Christ’s gift to us.
"Whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven..." (John 20,23)
But can't God just forgive me? Well, He can.
There is such a thing as Perfect Contrition.
Sorrow for sin because it offends God’s goodness, not just because of Hell.
It can restore grace, but its rare and it has some conditions.
One must genuinely detest their sins because they offend God, and have a firm purpose of amendment, meaning a sincere intention to avoid sin in the future and confess to a priest as soon as possible.
