...which usually means a neoliberal or reactionary revolution that throws the baby out with the bathwater (Russia) or the state cracking down on protest & becoming even more totalitarian than the regime it overthrew (China)
/2
If there are certain goals that a revolutionary vanguard wants to preserve, they can be done so via the Constitution so that if the vanguard party does lose an election the gains of the revolution can't be overturned by a simple majority vote
/3
As I elaborated on another thread, a revolutionary movement must consider itself on a timer & prioritize the most essential changes it can achieve, rather than overwhelm itself trying to fix everything & achieving nothing
/4
If a vanguard party can focus on and achieve clear results, then they can earn a mandate at the ballot box to continue forward
/5
It is perfectly reasonable, during wartime and with sound evidence, to ban parties that are actively aiding the enemy, but...
/6
...Most smart democracies also require their officials to swear to uphold the laws & constitution as a requirement of office, which (in theory, at least) provides a legal means to dismiss them if they violate their oaths
/7
Even NE Syria's AANES, with PYD as its vanguard party, remains a multiparty government implementing a progressive, socialist, democratic system all while actively fending off Turkish invasion & Western pressure to submit to a new reactionary Islamist government in Damascus
/8
They did this by not simply implementing the most essential parts of their revolution into the party platform, but making them part of the social contract that members of all parties, PYD or not, can agree to swear to uphold
/9
In doing so they can build upon the successes they have achieved in the near-term, which in time can give them the popular legitimacy to pursue those positions which the public may not have previously trusted them to pursue

The right-wing people who would have been rabidly Islamophobic 20 years ago are exhausted from decades of failed Mideast wars in the name of defending the West, they now blame Israel or the Jews for the West's problems, rants about Sharia are replaced with rants about the Talmud
Late Millenial & Zoomer right-wingers grew up in a period of pointless wars launched by Christian Zionist neoconservatives, with an emphasis on supporting Israel throughout, that led to nothing tangible for Americans except loss of life & treasure, followed by economic decline
The neocons were discredited, and with them the loyalty to Israel - young conservatives today feel that the Israelis have conned the US for decades while bringing the US nothing in return but enmity from people that would not hate them otherwise
Eh fuck it, I'm making a thread about stuff that Garand Thumb missed on his weak urban evasion vid with my insights as both someone who grew up as inner city white trash, lived through Baltimore's 2015 unrest, & saw a little urban SHTF overseas
The video presents itself as a guide on r̶a̶p̶i̶d̶ ̶w̶h̶i̶t̶e̶ ̶f̶l̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ fleeing from rioters (& Pride parades, apparently) to the safety of your home suburbs, however the techniques shown are heavily geared towards evading (state) security forces
Nevermind the large number of us who aren't Quiverfulls living on rural homesteads to flee to when SHTF, it really should have just been a two parter or just a longer video to deal with the differences between WROL unrest & fleeing organized enemy forces in an urban environment
